South Point hits reset again.

Post by Noteam3 »

Hearing that Gifford was forced out. Making next year 5 coaches in 6 years. Unless they can manage to hire from within the staff I see this dooming South Point football even worse that it already has been. Seems like progress was being made hard to put out that big of a dumpster fire in 2 years

Hate to hear that, I thought he was making strides even if it wasn't showing up in the win column yet think given another 1-2 years might've seen them creep up. So now that Gifford is available does he step back from coaching or does he make a shot at say, Unioto??

If true I hate to hear it. Numbers looked to be up this year. Had a win. Hard to work with a already doomed program and expect change in 2 years. Next person will have to same problems.

This is bad for the entire OVC. Can we step in like the NBA did with the Cavs in the early 80s or the Clippers 8 or 10 years ago.

Sorry to hear this, I don't know Coach Gifford personally, but nobody is capable of changing a tough culture in 10 games..... and I agree with everyone else, this hurts the entire OVC.....I felt this was the best SP in quite a few years.

Gotta give the guy more than 2 seasons to turn things around. Don't know what some of these schools are thinking repeatedly hiring and firing coaches. Gifford will be coaching somewhere else soon though, if I had to bet.*

Yes he did, I mean their numbers were down when he took over. I guess I don't know what they were expecting him to do in that short of a time period. I mean he had to sell the student body on football at SP again and started to get some really good numbers. Really think they messed up if this was simply wins and losses as the sole reason for forcing him out.

Real shame if true. Gifford is a good football coach, he deserves more time. He’s a really good person too. Hate to hear South Point do this to another coach. You can’t build a program if you don’t have the time. Gifford will coach again very soon, hopefully for a school that will give him more time to implement his regimen.

I really hate this for him. He was really engaged in the program. Looks like he had numbers up and no one quiting.

I thought he definitely had them on the right track. They’ll be lucky to find anyone to take the job if they don’t give anyone a chance.

Giff is a very good football coach. Good luck to him in whatever he chooses to do from here.
