Another "local kid" who people bash Ohio University for not taking is up and quiting. This list is getting long of local kids who can't make it at the DI level, and then people wonder why the area is not recurited more.

Ever think that maybe he didn't like the new coaching staff or wanted to play his last 2 years of basketball as a starter instead of a role player? Maybe he wants to play professionally in Europe someday? Mountain State has a very successful program and they have a very good coach who has sent over 20 players to play professionally in Europe, Mexico, D-League, etc.
There are several local players who are currently doing well at DI schools (Spradlin, Waginger, Gagai, Thoroughman come to mind...)
This was taken from the Mountain State website:
Bob Bolen has accumulated the best record of any college coach in the United States over the last nine seasons with a record of 271-41 (87%). Bolen's Cougars have won 401 games in only 15 seasons, averaging over 27 wins a year. MSU had the best record, 38-1, of any college team in the country during the 03-04 campaign. MSU has been ranked one of the top five scoring teams in the nation for 15 consecutive seasons.

Northern Ky. is not D1. (Gagai is there, and doing well!)

4th and goal-Come on Man!!!! To play Div. 1 basketball @ Marshall or play @ Mountain State??? Are you kidding-Don't like the coach, wants to play over seas,etc.... what other excuses??? These moves these guys make from Div 1 to wherever DOES hurt our area!! Why would Div.1 teams want to recruit our area when we have players who tend to fail out, quit-when they don't start, drugs, get home sick, don't like the coach, misses mommy washing their clothes, etc...... THESE MOVES DO HURT SOUTHERN OHIO AND ALL THE STUDENT ATHLETES WHO ARE FROM OUR AREA!!!!!!!!!!

I think Brigham Waginger helped Southern Ohio basketball far more than Nick Aldridge and Cam Miller could hurt it.

I agree that it could have an influence from those certain schools that had it happen to them. But not each DI school would say, "3 years ago a different kid transferred from somewhere, so we shouldn't recruit anyone from that school". If you have talent and they are interested in you, they will still be there to recruit you to their school.
Good luck to Cam, hopefully it all works out for him there! IMO, I'd rather play 4 years of basketball at a small school (DII, DIII, NAIA) than sit for 3 years at a DI with HOPES of having a large amount of playing time by my senior year. But some kids and parents want to be attached to the name of a DI school. Then issues like transferring 1,2,or 3 times happens.
My question is, how many credits does the average athlete lose when they transfer. I'm sure not EVERY credit transfers out.

Soon I think they will about all transfer out because I think all colleges are trying to go to semesters now for easier transfer. OSU is suppose to change in 2012 im pretty sure.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i think this was totally uncalled for, personal foul ,15 yards on pol pot. and loss of down.Pol Pot wrote:Another "local kid" who people bash Ohio University for not taking is up and quiting.
