It looks like Paint Valley is D4 this year and I thought I read that Coal Grove is D3 this year.
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Removed Coal Grove, added Paint Valley and changed Eastern name to Beaver Eastern

D 4 could be interesting by March.
Eastern playing solid schedule,Paint Valley playing good schedule and alot of others playing good schedule and will come into seeding with .500 or less record and a battle ready team.

We’ll take our beatdown in the regular season then head to Meigs and thump em as usual.

Swap FH with Trimble. I believe they are better than Trimble this year. They play Jan. 3rd and play Peebles in Feb. I also have questions on SG. Are they a product of the early schedule? They have a quality win at home over Southern. Played Trimble tough at home. They still have the Lancers twice and have to go to Trimble and Southern. If they can win on the road I think they will be in the top 8. It will be fun to see if this list holds up. I think it’s safe to leave Glenwood at 1. My only concern with them is the non conference schedule.
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
It is a super sectional this year meaning that all teams are seeded from the same pool.. Webster may still end up playing their sectional games at Meigs, but it will not be against the same group of teams that are normally there.Swanker Pine wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 12:12 am We’ll take our beatdown in the regular season then head to Meigs and thump em as usual.
Peebles, New Boston etc could end up on the Meigs side of the bracket depending on how seeding goes.

Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
The sectional sites for SEO Division 4 this year are Northwest HS and Wellston HS, according to the information listed on the SEODAB website. It appears as though teams won’t know what site they are playing at until after the draw.
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Do the other sectionals in Ohio have sectional games at the higher seeded teams?
If so, why is the SE doing it this way? Is it because of travel?

Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
I’m not sure how this super sectional deal works. FH is 94 miles from northwest and 45 from Wellston. So they will no longer use Meigs HS?
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
I think they rank them and the higher team picks who they play and where at?

So you wanna make sure you’re in the top 11? Hopefully they balance out the games beteeen the 2 locations. I guess I don’t see the benefit of Super sectionals. Maybe better games at Convo? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I don’t get it but hopefully we don’t have to go to pomeroy this year while everyone else goes to mcdermott
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Coaches vote how to rank the teams? Any teams protected?
Ex
Glenwood gets 1 seed and picks to play 2 seed fed hock at northwest round 1 due to travel strategy? Sure it wouldn't happen but is it allowed

The Division IV tournament is at Northwest and Wellston this year. Meigs will not be hosting.Swanker Pine wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 12:44 pm I don’t get it but hopefully we don’t have to go to pomeroy this year while everyone else goes to mcdermott
Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Every other part of the state has used a super sectional for years but the SE district never would due to “travel.” They finally caught up to the rest of the state and will be giving it a try. The main difference is that other districts typically allow the higher seed to host the sectional games at their place. SE District still has designated host sites (like Wellston and Northwest for D4).
It’s actually quite simple how it works.
EVERY single head coach seeds all SEO D4 teams.
The top seed is the ONLY seed that picks which location they wish to play at.
The rest fills in from there.
The only difference is there MAY be discussion as to which location each game is played at after all seeds are given / assigned, but that much I can’t clarify for sure.
There will be some kinks and things that need ironed out... but long term it is the correct decision for SEO.

Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Wellston is also a MUCH better host than Meigs. No offense to Meigs, but Wellston actually has a top notch gymnasium that should have been used for tournaments many years ago. TONS of seating. Excellent facility.

Re: Southeastern Ohio District D4 Basketball
Wellston does have a really nice place. Maybe we won’t have to wait for the gym to clear out to get a seat this year.
