Super sectional would be good if higher seed got home games. Since there are still designated sites I'm not really a fan.

Totally agree. And I think long term this is what will end up happening. I just hope SE district coaches are patient and let the kinks get ironed out instead of immediately changing it back to the old way.

So I looked at 22 team seeded bracket. The first round would be the bottom 12 teams. A play in game so to speak. The second round would be the 6 winners and seeds 1-10. The teams are seeded again after this round 1-8? Is that done by a vote or the highest remaining seed would be 1 and so on?

There is no re-seeding. The initial seeding is final all the way through. Look up a 22 team single elimination bracket and that’s what you’ll see in SEO D4.

I agree. I hope one of the kinks that gets ironed out is that coaches don’t get to pick their path yet.

It’s a good start though.

According to the SEODAB, Crooksville and Huntington Ross will be competing in the Division 4 super sectional this year bringing the total number of teams to 24.

Some good games coming up for several schools. Should be a pretty good district.

Symmes Valley with a nice win over South Gallia

SOC > TVC-Hocking this year?

If the southeast district would do like the East district, andthe higher seeds get the home games for the sectional semis and finals, then they wouldn't have to start there tournament trail so soon, that way they be able to get regular season completed in decent time, maybe with a week to spare to get ready for the tournaments, I'm from East district and I'm old school, and i do kind of miss the tournaments the old way with a neutral site and two games a nite,it just seems more like high school tournaments, times have changed I guess

Can you give us a list of the teams and records of the Division IV teams in the East District. Thanks!

Outside of New Boston I don’t think so. South Gallia may be a product of an easy schedule at this point. How good is Ironton St Joe?

East District D4 as of December 31

6-0 Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans
9-1 Berlin Hiland
7-1 Malvern
5-1 Frontier
5-2 Shadyside
6-3 Monroe Central
6-3 Shenandoah
4-4 Caldwell
3-4 Strasburg
2-5 Tusky Catholic
3-7 River
3-7 Toronto
2-7 Beallsville
2-7 Steubenville Catholic
0-8 Bridgeport
0-8 Conotton Valley

I think it's a three team race for East district title, Bishop Rosecrans just lost one senior from last year, not real big but a great three point shooting team and excellent defensive team,my Hawks return three starters and there six man off the bench, they go 6'8",6'3",6'2",6'0",5'10"and again a great defensive team only giving up 36 points a game, they have beaten two d1 schools already,Malvern another very good team, with pretty good size with two 6'5" starters and a very good point guard, Hiland and Malvern just played last week, Hiland won 58-43 but the Hawks were down 8 at the half, but made some very good defensive adjustments to hold Malvern to 11 second half points

One team that could spoil in the SE District would be Crooksville. MVL is rugged this season and they already have some decent wins. Don’t know if Crooksville has what it takes to take the district, but they’ll be a tough draw.

Sounds like Berlin Hiland gonna roll through SE Ohio to State Tourney once again.*

I keep hearing rumors , from Central district that they get to send two district winners to the regionals,if that's the case, there two district winners will be going to OU,and East district winner will be headed to Canton regionals again,I guess in one aspect it's alot shorter drive to Canton especially if my Hawks were to make it,I know the guys like playing at OU,I keep checking the ohsaa website,to see if they have release this year's new state tournament sites nothing yet

Central district has two teams going to the regionals. I believe they have 19 teams total. Per the OHSAA, the regional at OU will have the two Southeast district winners along with the winner of the East district and one of the Central district winners. The other Central district winner will head to Kettering to be joined by the three Southwest district winners. Details can be found on the OHSAA website under regional and state tournament draw information in the tournaments section for boys basketball.
