If this is really it, it’s been a pleasure getting stomped year in and year out. Hate to see him go but love to watch him leave...

We’ll see though 😂

As a former player of his, it wasn't always fun having him as a coach, but I have the ultimate respect for him.

I seriously doubt he is coming back, his health is an issue too.

Wow! I just talked to Coach Norm Saturday at Chesapeake ... Norm has always come up to me and chatted hoops - outstanding coach/teacher of the game of basketball ... 757+ wins and counting ... Norm gets the most out of every player he has on the team ... he develops players, molds them into TEAMS ... perfection is the goal - he gets his players to "never be satisfied" - keeps them continually striving to get better, pushing themselves for TEAM ... pfloyd is going to miss seeing Norm court side for sure ... the game will miss Norm court side ...

Now, with more than 750 victories to his credit, Persin said on Saturday this season will be his last.

Persin, 69, has said he’d retire before, but changed his mind. The third-winningest coach in Ohio high school boys basketball history, though, said he means it this time

I believe he also coached girls at Northwest. I think he was the first girls coach.
If he ever coached the Girls at Northwest, I have never heard anyone around this area ever mention that. He was an assistant coach at Gallia Academy, he then came to Oak Hill as the Head Coach, then to Wilmington as Head Coach, then to Chesapeake for over 20 years as Head Coach, then back to Oak Hill till the present time. At least that's what I've been told, if I'm wrong I'll certainly admit it.
There is some pictures of past teachers at Northwest and his picture is there. I was told he was the first girls coach. I will have to look what year.
Ed Miller was also at Northwest before he went to Notre Dame.

think that he had coached

I went to the Lady Oaks - Lady Falcons game at OH this evening, I even asked 3 or 4 people who I know that know Norm a lot better than I do, they didn't seem to think that he had coached the Girls at Northwest either. You very well may be right that he did, and if so I will be the first to admit that I was completely wrong.

BigBlueNation, First off let me say that you were right, he did coach the Girls one year while at Northwest. I was wrong as were 3 or 4 other people from OH. I checked with the " Main Man ", witch I should have done before I posted to begin with. After that one year, he then started coaching boys as an assistant coach at Gallipolis.

Thanks for asking him. Now we know for sure. I wasn't 100% for sure but I had been told that he did. So Thanks again. He is definitely a great coach and fun to watch coach.

Ed Miller put in for the head coaching job back then but didn't get the nod. That's when he made the move to Notre Dame and the rest is history. He said for years after that he felt he could've built a powerhouse in that community. What couldve been...

Oak Hill has had a tremendous run Since 2007.

Anyone have the stats for the Oakies since?

2006-07 14-11 (District Champs)
2007-08 21-4 (District Champs)
2008-09 25-2 (State Champs)
2009-10 20-1 (Undefeated Reg Season)
2010-11 15-6
2011-12 14-8
2012-13 22-5 (Regional Runner-up)
2013-14 14-7
2014-15 14-9
2015-16 13-11
2016-17 23-2 (District Runner-up)
2017-18 25-3 (District Champs)
2018-19 19-5
2019-present 12-1

If records are correct OH has been 251-75 (.70 winning pct.) No losing seasons. 5 district titles and 1 runner-up in 13 1/2ish seasons. Amazing stuff for where they were even just right before Norm.

No big deal, but I think the 2019-present should read 12-1 as of today.

Thank you, I knew I’d mess one of them up when typing them all down. Know the record for 2006-07 ? I’m going to keep trying but may take a while.

I know you didn't mean 16, I try to read mine 2 or 3 times sometimes, and still mess up. Lol

2006-07 was 14-11 with a District Championship, first in Jackson County History. Finished the regular season 10-10 and tournament went like this:
Vs. Wellston at Athens High, 40-20
Vs. Alexander at Athens High, 53-50 (Sectional Championship)
Vs. South Point, Convocation Center, 62-56 (OT)
Vs. Fairland, Convocation Center, 56-48 (District Championship)
Vs. Wheelersburg, Regional Semifinals, 78-44.
