35-7 halftime lead for the Bucks. They have looked really good except for the blocked FG that was ran back for Marshalls only TD.

Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
I think DeSales, Iggy or Moeller would have kept the game closer than it was. Cupcake city as Dick Vitale would say. And look at all the people who paid $70 - $500 (seats), $5 - $75 (gas, around the state), $10 - $15 (parking), $5 - $100 (single/family,eats & drinks) and travel time (minutes to 3 hr). That's just people that are in state and this game ran them anywhere from $90 to $700 or more. IMO glutton's for punishment. At least when they go to a bowl game you're paying for the pageantry, hype & some kind of national exposure and getting to see some good competition for your money.

LMAO....over 102,000 Buckeye faithful may think differently than you!FANOSPORTS wrote:I think DeSales, Iggy or Moeller would have kept the game closer than it was. Great way to start a season. The Buckeyes defense looked to be plenty fast enough and it was nice to see Moeller out on the field. I think Mr. Pryor had a good showing and one can easily notice that he has improved in his passing. He did have plenty of time and will definitely need to speed up in the next game, but all in all, looked very solid.
Saine looked very good and displayed great patience and quickness. Special teams needs some adjustments, but I am sure that Coach T will have them prepared for next week.

I know but that's just me. I can sit on the sofa in the A/C with a front row seat, TV and a fridge in the next room. I won't spend that kind of money all year going to all the high school games for 10 weeks and then the playoffs. I must be getiing oldHoggy wrote:LMAO....over 102,000 Buckeye faithful may think differently than you!FANOSPORTS wrote:I think DeSales, Iggy or Moeller would have kept the game closer than it was. Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
The Buckeyes came out and did what they should have done.
17-25 245 yards and 3 tds for Pryor
103 yards in the first half while splitting time for Saine.
Defensive shutout (only Marshall score on special teams)
That's the kind of weak opponent exicution we've been waiting for
for awhile now. The Buckeyes look focused, like they have something they want to prove.
They were solid, but I can't get excited for a win over Marshall.
This was more of a test to see if we could avoid being ticked off at
poor exicution and lack of focus. That was not there.
Tons of room for improvement this week as they prepare for Miami.

FANOSPORTS, I wouldn't run Marshall down too much. I hear a lot of hype from the WVU fans about the WVU-Marshall game coming up on a Friday night, I thought Friday was for high school football? WVU has got Coast Carolina first, I guess Wolford was booked this year?
Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
Marshall lost; I know, but positives can come out of that loss.
1. Marshall outplayed OSU on special teams
2. Marshall had success moving the ball at times.
3. Marshall's athletes never gave up and played hard all night.
I can see Marshall winning 7 games this year.
OSU needs to fix those specialties.
By the way, I hate OSU and Marshall playing, as I am a fan of both. It is a no win situation for Ohio State. If OSU wins big, everyone says OSU should demolish Marshall.
If they win a close game, everyone in the media, etc. would say OSU sucks. And if OSU would end up losing, there would be lynchings (figuratively speaking, of course)

Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
No offense but both teams played to what they are. Marshall is a few years away from returning to D1 respectibility. They played for a paycheck. OSU handled them but hardly had their head in this game. Next weekend is the real deal. And special teams? I'm glad I'm not a special teamer for OSU in practice this week!

Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
Special teams play at OSU has slowly been eroding over the past 3-4 years.
Which is dumbfounding considering the emphasis Tressel puts on special teams.
They need to get it fixed, before they get bit.
Miami would have taken that return to the house, not just to the 30.

Re: Week 1: Marshall @ Ohio State
I have noticed Sp Teams going down hill over the last 3 years too. I don't know why Tress is using 2 kickers, His short yardage kicker isn't very good. Basil has to be good if Tress is using him for long kicks! They punted the ball well, coverage has to get a lot better, and they have to stop people from walking through the middle on FG attemps.

Pulling positives out of a 38 point loss; I like your attitude! Unfortunately, Marshall has a LOOOONG way to go this season; pulling together a couple decent drives and special teams won't be enough to judge a 7 win team. Schools like MU will take beatings at the hands of other schools that are like OSU, but how they respond next week will be the key.boogerred wrote:Marshall lost; I know, but positives can come out of that loss.

This will be a trying month; I think Marshall has 3 or 4 bowl teams in September(?)
