New Boston Glenwood 17-1, 11-0 and Division IV #1 in AP poll were facing a very good Ironton St.Joe Flyer team at 13-4, 8-3 last evening.
NB was on "the road again" for the 12th time this season. This time in the "Flyer Dome" vs the homestanding Flyers, on homecoming inside a packed house.
The Tigers led 15-10 after one, St.Joe led at the half 34-23. New Boston rallied from the 11 point deficit to pull within one at the end of three 46-45, then pulled ahead to win 63-60 before a stunned SJ crowd.
Congratulations to the Tigers on winning their first SOC I crown outright since the 1971 season.
New Boston improves to 18-1 overall and 12-0 in league play. St.Joe slips to 13-5 and 8-4.
The Tigers welcome the Western Indians 8-9, 5-7 on 2/7, go to the Minford Falcons 9-7 on 2/11 and play the Notre Dame Titans 5-11, 2-9 on 2/14. The Flyers are at the Rock Hill Redmen 3-14 on 2/4, host the Symmes Valley Vikings 11-5, 8-3 on 2/7, welcome the River Valley Raiders 5-11 on 2/12 and finish the regular season at the Clay Panthers 6-11, 5-6 on 2/14.
