The highlight for the Buckeyes last night was at 149lbs, as Sasso took down the #1 ranked Pat Lugo. The Buckeyes don't get much relief this next match as Minnesota is always a tough team to deal with.

Wow,the Buckeyes just dominated University of Maryland tonight winning 9 out of 10 matches and a final score of 43-3. The Buckeyes are good, very good would be putting it mildly, on the other hand Maryland's wrestling program is very bad to say the least.

Both Maryland and Indiana wrestling programs are in rough shape right now. There are actually only 4 teams in the Big Ten, out of the 14 teams, that are not ranked in the top 25, and one of those four teams is actually receiving votes.

I would guess that the Buckeyes would probably have gotten more out of a regular practice session than what Maryland was able to put forth against them Friday night. I hope not, but I would bet that the matchup with Nebraska tomorrow will be a very competitive in most of the weight classes.

The Buckeyes have fallen on the road today, at #6 Nebraska, 19-14. Nebraska was deducted 2 points throughout the match due to unsportsmanlike conduct and lack of team mat control. Here were the final results:

133lbs: #14 Ridge Lovett (NEB) def. #21 Jordan Decatur (OSU); D, 6-5

The Buckeyes let 2 or 3 matches get away from them very late in the matches today, even losing one in the last 2 seconds.

Technically, this match came down to bonus points, I think it came down to the matchup at 141lbs, it was #1 vs. #2, and Penn State pulled out a victory which captured the momentum of the match. Ultimately Penn State defeated the Buckeyes 20-16 in their final dual of the season. It was an absolute pleasure to get to watch this one! Here are the match by match results:

125lbs: Malik Heinselman (OSU) def. Brandon Meredith (PSU); D, 5-3
133lbs: #4 Roman Bravo-Young (PSU) def. Jordan Decatur (OSU); D, 10-4
141lbs: #2 Nick Lee (PSU) def. #1 Luke Pletcher (OSU); D, 8-4
149lbs: #1 Sammy Sasso (OSU) def. Jarod Verkleeren (PSU); SV-1, 3-1
157lbs: Quinn Kinner (OSU) def. Brady Berge (PSU); D, 4-3
165lbs: #1 Vincenzo Joseph (PSU) def. #14 Ethan Smith (OSU); MD, 13-5
174lbs: #2 Mark Hall (PSU) def. #7 Kaleb Romero (OSU); PIN, 0:46
184lbs: #7 Aaron Brooks (PSU) def. #12 Rocky Jordan (OSU); MD, 15-4
197lbs: #1 Kollin Moore (OSU) def. #18 Shakur Rasheed (PSU); MD, 14-6
285lbs: #23 Gary Traub (OSU) def. #13 Seth Nevills (PSU); D, 5-4

Next up, Ohio State will travel to the Big Ten Championships, March 7-8 in Piscataway, NJ, which will be hosted by Rutgers.
