At this time of the year, you just never know for sure, that's what makes this great game of basketball the way that it is. A few days ago, "we all" would probably be a little lighter in our wallets, if we would have been placing bets on either one of these teams being in the position that they are in today, and preparing to meet each other in the first round at the Convo. We see it to some degree every year, just about when we are sure that we pretty much know what is going to happen, we up and get surprised again. I for one most certainly did not see either team being here. Congrats to both teams, good luck moving forward.

Whiting, Markins, and Matters have really stepped up. They are all playing well together. Also getting killed before the tournament was a blessing in disguise

Logan Elm won’t shoot well at the Convo. Athens won’t foul much as their defense doesn’t pressure much.

Athens will continue to knock of teams that beat the teams they could never have beaten.

Athens advances 77-68

A lot of history between Athens and Logan Elm ... Basketball, baseball and even a 74-55 Athens win over LE in the football playoffs.

Some very important regular season basketball games over the past 7 or 8 years.

As far as post season:

2019
(4) Athens - 43
(5) Logan Elm - 40 OT

2012
(7) Athens - 40
(2) Logan Elm - 38

Perhaps Doug struggles to beat the Dogs because he is a Chieftain? Couldn't beat us as a player, hasn't been able to solve the riddle as a Coach either.

Maybe that explains why they beat us....he was quite the player in the late 80’s and always beatJackson, but we were like 1-19 and 3-17 so maybe everyone looked good against us.

He was/is a much improved player this year. Dropped weight, stayed in the paint more. He was scoring 20 pts, grabbing 10 boards a game.
So he's injured or playing?

In the 2013 game at LE. That was a god awful goal tending call that sent it into overtime. Great block by Ibi Watson

I think he’ll be back for the Final 4

I'm not sure what football scores from Burrow senior year has to do with this Saturday's basketball match up but I don't think the Heisman trophy winner/first round pick in the NFL will be able to play........lol
As far as last year LE kids were sophmores, this is their third year starting varsity basketball. I think they'll be fine not worrying about what happened in the past and focussing on the present. Should be a fun one to watch.

Bulldog will pull out his old drum major stats if he has to. Whatever it takes to show Athens was at some point superior.

Wow, I hadn't realized how the Bulldogs have had the Logan Elm number - I'm just looking at the basketball side ... history IS important ... should be a good one ! ... 93dog - which player Markins ? or Whiting has had to drop inside to guard the opposing teams big ? going to be one of the few times since the Butcher departure that Athens will have the size advantage ! ...
