No. 6 Athens (17-7) vs No. 7 Logan Elm (17-7)
Re: No. 6 Athens (17-7) vs No. 7 Logan Elm (17-7)
It's shown up in small pockets throughout the year, but not a ton at all.
Re: No. 6 Athens (17-7) vs No. 7 Logan Elm (17-7)
6-4-3=2o obvious has seen the Bulldogs every game and I trust his knowledge way more than my own on the Bulldogs ... when I was at Athens to see a couple of games after the "issue" I talked to Coach Cozart about a number of things, he mentioned that the coaching staff had worked on/put back in the defensive arsenal the 3-2 zone again - I wouldn't be surprised to see some form of zone vs the perimeter shooters of LE ...

LE’s guards too much in this one. Athens is a solid team, but LE’s potency on the offensive end should carry them onward.

He will show up if they lose and blame it on Stiverson lack of coaching skill or inability to recruit big athletic superstars

I was 55/56 in my high school career, never thrown out before varsity ball. My sophomore year Izzy struck out 15 but I made it to first in the 7th inning at Jackson, down 1-0. Little gave me the steal sign and I shook the rim of my helmet asking for sign again and he gave it again. Stricklin threw me out by 10 feet from his knees. My only caught stealing in my baseball life. We lost 1-0.93Bulldog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 9:26 pmI'm not lying when I say this, in all the games I watched (and it was a ton) I never once saw a player steal 2nd base on Stic. Even in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the American Legion regionals, against the best of the best, nobody swiped 2B. Lightening quick release and an absolute cannon.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 9:21 pmOur football crowd is big but silent. Spoiled of sorts. I enjoy the small, but passionate, fans we do have year after year.
It use to bother me not getting the support or interest from the area, but not so much anymore.
If I want to be around a large, energetic, passionate bunch of fans, I just drive 10 minutes east to Glouster and watch the Tomcats.
... Strike em out and throw em out, I92! lol
You guys never struck me out thrown them out on us because stupid Izzy would never let us on base and your predecessor was not possible to run on, or get out.

We were in the 1-2-2, 3/4 court for most of the game, then dropped back into a 2-3. I just said to a friend this morning that since the one player drama that enveloped this team, that Coach Cozart has done a great job of alternating between man, 2-3, and 3-2 and putting this team in the best position to succeed. It seems he's made the right call a majority of the time. Obviously there's outliers like the smackdown in Jackson. I know he doesn't get talked about on this site in the same circle w the likes of Stiverson, Maddox, Combs, Hoops, etc., but he has done a helluva job this year in getting his troops back to the Convo again. Really proud of this group.

My sophomore year and my 2nd career start...at Athens in 1990. I threw a 5 hitter and Stricklin had 3 of the 5 hits...our CF made 3 errors and struggled unlike his 300 yard rushing performance against Athens the prior fall season. Little got tossed and Gibson chuckled. We lost 3-0 or 3-1 I believe.

Stiverson or MADDOX will win one or both of the next 2. They’re both knocking on the door again. Won’t be easy !
Re: No. 6 Athens (17-7) vs No. 7 Logan Elm (17-7)
We've given him the cold shoulder since he came on here the last couple of years and made himself look like a fool for bashing one of the top coaching staffs in southern Ohio. We tried to trade him to Circleville for a bag of three-week old Lindsey's doughnuts, but the Tigers said no thanks.
Travis needs to learn that none of us have invested what the players and coaches have in the program. A solid group of kids who work their tails off and a coaching staff that cares about them as people first and players second.

Been a good rivalry and I'd say Athens has had the most talent by far during the series in various sports, but the Logan Elm kids have played their tails off. You look back to that playoff football game and Athens had four D1 kids. Our best kid on the team went to a D3 school. Kids played with incredible heart and were well-coached.

De’von sharp. He did about everything for Athens. Jimmy Burrow always said they had a full ride offer for him but he kept getting in trouble
Devon was probably one of our biggest athletes because we sucked for so long(90’s-00’s) before him and were good after him.
