Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles
Peebles and Hiland have a little recent history as they played two years ago in the elite 8.. That game was close at the half ,but; that very good Hawks team pulled away in the second half. The Peebles team that year began to jell in the second half of the season. There was one starter who hadn't played ball in a few years. There was another that played at the Christian School thru High school. With that team Weston Browning as a sophmore was making his Convo debut and was starting point guard that year.
Other history dates back to the seventies when Charlie Huggins coached a team we played at Steubenville at the Elite eight game. That game was led the entire game by Peebles and Coach Huggins and company pulled it out in the closing moments for a 42-40 win. Hilands coach for many years was I believe one of Charlie Huggins
Indian Valley South's prodigies.
This year's Peebles squad are pretty deep playing 8-9 players. They started out the year 2-2 and since then have reeled off 19 straight wins.
Hiland I believe struggled early season, but; now have their team playing stellar defense and their offense seems to be cruising right along.
The Seniors of both teams have played several games at the Convo so the stage won't be too big. Peebles seniors have played 8 games at the Convo in their high school years so hopefully that helps. I believe it will be a great game ,but; I will not venture a score. I just hope for good health because as our girls found out injuries really hurt your chances. Safe travels one and all ! See ya Tuesday!

Perry Reece was Coach after Huggins at Hiland. He also became legendary
Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles
Hiland is peaking at the right time. With the way they walked through this Regional last year it's difficult not to assume they'll do the same thing. Peebles has the guard play and size to make it competitive.
I'm rooting for Peebles! Hope they can knock off Hiland but it will be a monumental task.

Grandview Heights and Hiland will be worth the price of admission. Grandview with the talent edge but Hiland will the coaching edge. Hard to bet against the Schlabach's this time of year (boys and girls).

Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles
Hiland is the favorite in this game. I think it's absolutely imperative for Peebles to get off to a good start. It's not a 7 game series, just one game which means a great effort by PHS just might get them to the regional final.
Hopefully Hoopie74's Indians will play their best game of the year.

Thanks trojandave. I believe they will play well. One quarter at a time, One game at a time, match up ,close out and finish. Josh will have them ready. Go Indians. Your best game it's coming up.trojandave wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:00 pm Hiland is the favorite in this game. I think it's absolutely imperative for Peebles to get off to a good start. All I've seen is the players listed in east district awards.Irish wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 4:42 pm Has anyone seen a Berlin roster? If so, could you post it? Thanks
Sam Habeger,6'2" senior
Korrie Hosteller,6'8" senior
Hunter Sommers
Will Schlabach.
#12,21,32,45 all good. I believe #52 plays alot.
I'm sure they are defensive minded and fundamentally very sound. Well coached and ready to play Tuesday at 6:15. I think Josh got to scout them some and has some tape. With that said Go Indians and safe travels all.

Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles
Hey Hoopie74, I have watched your Indians play twice now and I have faith that they can and will keep pace with Hiland. Play tough and keep it close going into the 4th quarter and anything can happen.
Stop making excuses and start making things happen!
Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles
Thanks! I'm thinking the same. We must play defense and hit the boards. Hopefully foul trouble won't be a problem as it was Saturday. The boys are focused. It's time to put the years work to the test and pass the exam.Bulldog84 wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2020 5:29 pmHey Hoopie74, I have watched your Indians play twice now and I have faith that they can and will keep pace with Hiland.
