Northwest should be any day now.

Things have gotten real quiet other than a few rumors making the rounds. Not surprising though as schools won't have to rush these hires with summer basketball likely being a pipe dream at this point*

Heard a very interesting rumor for the Valley job. Really shocked me. I am not sure how much truth there is to it though because it seems very unlikely.

Anything is possible with some of the Clowns that do the hiring.

My prediction is Scarberry. Back for another stint as Mohawk head coach.

I’d say Valley decision will be out in the coming weeks and the reaction will be interesting. It’s a great hire for Valley. People will be very surprised I think. A coach that won’t deal with the outside noise, solely focused on winning (very good at it, I will add) but not going to specify until process gets further along.

Has the Wellston position been filled? ... are these the big ones out there:

Wellston?
Valley?
Northwest?
Oak Hill?
Alexander?

... May is the month for teaching contracts, supplemental contracts to be finalized ... I suppose we will hear about all of these sooner than later ...

Portsmouth West job is open. Was told that Bill Hafer is not returning for the 20-21 season.

West job will get more interest than most would assume. They have some good basketball talent coming up in junior high (true basketball players as opposed to football players trying to play bball). The right coach could do something there if given 3-4 years to turn it around.*

3-4 years ? That’s a lifetime contract in today’s world. SMH.

I don’t know about potential coaches, but I agree West will be very competitive in basketball over the next few years.

I’m not sure about the talent level coming up thru the ranks at West but from the outside looking in, West usually has good athletes on the football field. If some of those athletes are “basketball first” .... then that is a great start. Their facilities are outstanding.

It will be interesting to see who applies for this position.

It’s odd that West isn’t catching the same flack as Valley for letting a young coach go. Best of luck to coach Hafer in the future.

What makes the different if their young or old. The treatment of many coaches is all but criminal. The coaching profession losses some good coaches/people at an alarming rate these days.

I’m not familiar with what transpired at West. If the administration and board blindsided Coach Hafer and never informed him there was issues then I’m sure there are people upset with the decision.

But I don’t know because I don’t have any friends connected in that community.

If the administration and board informed him during his 3 year tenure that there was issues and he hasn’t able to address them then I think they have the right to non-renew a coach. It all comes down to integrity and ethics. If school districts do things morally and ethically right, they don’t look like a second tier school!

I hopped on to see if anyone was talking about who Valley hired. If what I heard is true they are in for some big changes!

All these SOC II openings, I wonder if Barrick interested in coming back over to Ohio to coach? Other names out there I would think would be on these schools' short-lists are current assistant coaches like Ryan Fenton, Travis Bradford, Kyle Miller, etc.*
