You're Tiger Bait wrote:my complaint is what in the sam hill does it take to get into the bcs top 10. we were at 10, 2 weeks ago, number 1 loses , we fall to 11. we were 11 , this week and 2 top ten teams fall, still not in the top ten, wth.

But outside of Ohio, the question is, why is OSU ranked so high? Can you really say that the Buckeyes have a quality win this season?

In hind sight, no you can't. It's not their fault that Miami has not lived up to expectations.
It's also not their fault that PSU and UM both stink.
Illinois is much better than expected, yet nobody wants to give credit.

What is the Buckeyes fault, is their loss to Wisconsin.
With that loss, and the lack of a good wino date,
I don't think you can expect the Buckeyes to be any higher than they are right now.

Weak non conference schedule.
This coming from a guy who's team has played non-league games against teams such as James Madison, Wofford, Eastern Washington, Villanova, Liberty, Coastal Carolina and Marshall is on the schedule every year.
This coming from a guy who's team has played non league games against teams such as Youngstown St, Eastern Michigan, Ohio U, Marshall, BG, Toledo............. so don't give me that crap :122246 :122246 :122246 :122246 :122246

The comment was in regard to a post on how/why OSU had not moved up in the BCS rankings.

the suckeyes play one BCS non conf game a year and 11 games from little 10 and MAC. If your one non conf BCS opponent doesn't live up to expectations I guess you are SOL.... just saying ;-)

What makes Illinois better than expected? Their wins over North Illinois, South Illinois, Purdue, Indiana and PSU or that they played OSU fairly close?

Radierball, when or if you ever win one national championship you might have something to run your mouth about. I would also say most of those MAC teams would be favored in the Big East this year. If the Big Ten is weak what does that say for WVU, Michigan pounded UCONN.

Charge, you are a typical OSU fan with your blinders. Your only comeback is attack and put down other teams and their fans.
Moronic comment you make about those MAC teams being favored in the Big East.
Obviously you can't take the truth about your team playing a bunch of patsies.

Say what you want about the Big East there bud, I have said it myself, it is down this year. I have also said that WVU's offense has been pathetic. Sometimes the truth hurts but I can admit that. OSU fans like you will never admit that you play a VERY WEAK non conference schedule and in recent years the little 10 has been overall down. Last year it was better than recent years.

Ohio States non conference schedule isn't the best by no means. But who has a tough non conference schedule? Pretty much no one. Every top rank team has for the most part one decent/good team on their non conference schedule each year just like the buckeyes have had in Miami, USC, Texas. Miami ended up being down but who knew that a handful of years ago when they scheduled the series. Basically every team plays one legit non confernce game and a handful of pud games. So I find it hard to rag simply on Ohio states schedule compared to the rest of the country.... Alabama, Florida, lsu, texas, USC, Oregon, oklahaoma none had a tough schedule other than 1 traditionally good team

seven national championships to all the haters. weak schedule my arse. there is much more parity in conferences now, therefore more upsets.

It's not a weak schedule, in conference.
But you can't claim that our non-conference foes have been worth a crap!

It's the non-conference opponents that are killing us in the computers.
If we had a non-conference schedule on par with Oklahoma, we would have won all if those games too, but would be ranked no less than 6 right now!

This has been the Gators problem with Florida State since the turn of the century. In the 90s, playing them before th SEC Championship was an unbelievable two weeks. Now, they have been a walkover.

When the OSU/Miami game was scheduled, Miami was near the top. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

This year I somewhat agree, as the Miami (Fl) win looks to be about nothing. But, Marshall's tough, right?

I don't understand how OSU's non-conference schedule can be considered "VERY WEAK" when OSU has scheduled Texas, USC, Miami, NC State, etc. in the past, and in the future they have scheduled California, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

It's not a video game where you can schedule all of the top 5 teams and be done with it. It's not quite that easy.

Normally I don't stick up the Ohio State but everyone talking about the scheduling has me wondering what is the best schedule, would it be beating up on inferior teams if they were playing Boise St., TCU, or Utah. Teams in smaller conferences but could beat a majority of the BCS eligible teams. I do believe that Ohio State needs to schedule more away non-conf games to get them road ready, but with Tressel there that will never happen, so everyone needs to look at their teams non-conf schedule and ask if it is any better.

In fact here are some teams that I believe we have fans of on this site lets see non-conf schedule

Michigan
Connecticut
at Notre Dame
Massachusetts
Bowling Green

UMASS,,,,,really

Florida

Miami (OH)
USF
Appalachian State

Once again, Appy State, really?

At least Ohio state stayed in the Bowl Subdivision this year.
Lets conitnue

Alabama

San Jose State
Penn State
at Duke

They played everyone's whipping boy San Jose State, won't say much about Duke because they did something my Irish couldn't do and that is beat Navy.

Oklahoma

Utah State
Florida State
Air Force
at Cincinnat

A little bit better than some of the other teams

Just wanted to show that no team is perfect in setting up Non-Conf, so until the NCAA tells the BCS AQ conferences that they have to play one school from each of the conferences in a season, this is the best we can do.

when you play in a difficult conference (SEC) you should get a pass on playing weak OOC teams. Now when you play in a sucky conference (little 10) you should be expected to play someone tough OOC , sorry for delivering more truth. MD

Conferences have their ups and downs, it wasn't very long ago at all, that the SEC was not the top dog. Also, the SEC is not up to snuff this year.
The Big 10 has been sub-par, but this season the top is much deeper.

The difference between the SEC and Big 10 is much smaller than over the past 4-5 years.
The teams that get a pass are the teams the Haters support.

The SEC is not up to snuff this year?.....  ....What a stupid statement. Do you watch these teams go to war each week?...Such great players...Great coaches...great athletes...great atmospheres...great traditions....tremendous matchups......I will give you a couple of things to chew on Dubs...If Cam still played for Florida. What would their record be?.....And one more...Who is the best running back in the country?...I will give you a hint  ..maybe 2 because you are a Big Ten and, especially an Ohio State Homer with a terrible Scarlet Squint : He doesnt play for Alabama or South Carolina. AH hell I will give you another because you are so ignorant...His teammate is the 2nd best runner in the college game.....Who might that be?

I don't see any personal insults, just biased over reaction to a true statement.

I didn't say the SEC is not still the top dog, just that that dog isn't as tough as in previous years. Many SEC fans acknowledge this, including most on here.

Looks like another case of someone accusing me of having scarlet glasses on, while themselves drinking from the hater-aide.

Last year Iowa was better without Stanzi, this isn't last year, and you can't use last year to argue this one. Ferentz is a good coach, and a heck of an o-line guy, but he is not as you bill him.

I've said all year that Iowa at Iowa was our toughest game.
