The Week's following the MCL tear that 5-Star Commit Jack Sawyer suffered in the final game of his junior season, on Nov 8th, were torture as he tried to slowly gain back the strength and flexibility in his knee. Sawyer said that the Rehab process was going phenomenal, and that he was way ahead of schedule already. Sawyer is at about 250lb ( up from his listed weight of 220 lb on his recruited profile ) to tack on to his 6'5" frame. The nations #3 overall player out of Pickerington North HS is now gearing up for his Senior year season. Sawyer is ranked as the "#42nd all time recruit by 247 Sports," which is #3 in Ohio State history behind only Terrelle Pryor (#12), and Ted Ginn Jr (#27), and ahead of Nick Bosa (#138), and Chase Young (#176), and Joey Bosa (all time record not listed.)

Rutgers University has had 6 players test positive recently, with a total of 10 so far. The entire Rutgers team is now in a 2-week quarantine. Things are not looking very good right now for fall football, with Rutgers joining Michigan State University in having to isolate the whole team. Ohio State was scheduled to open the season against Rutgers. ( Some reports are saying that the players just recently attended a party.

As it remains uncertain if and when this year's Ohio State football team's season will begin due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ohio State University Marching Band has also been left in a state of limbo, as the band typically plans it's year around the football schedule. Much like the football team though, The Best darn Band in the land has adapted throughout an unusual offseason to position itself as well as possible to be ready to perform to it's usual standard whenever it gets the green light to return to action.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:34 pm TBDBITL will have Virtual Tryouts: Attention, all future I-dotters, drum majors and other feather hat wearers, your journey to the Best darn Band In The Land, will begin where I live most of my life, Online. Tryout adjustments for the 2020 Ohio State University Marching Band. Music auditions will be conducted via video submission and will be required of all new candidates and all veteran band members. Marching audition requirements will depend on the start date of the football season, and will be conducted either via video submission or live. All new candidates must complete a marching audition. Veteran band members need only complete a marching audition if required to do so by the marching band staff, based on their music audition. Any student that needs an instrument for tryouts should contact the band office, instruments will be available beginning July 31st ( for squad leaders ) and Aug 7th for all others.

In one of the Pac 12's recent conference meetings, one of the staff members supposedly asked if there was anyone that they could pay, to write positive stories about Covid-19. Amid this crisis, the Pac 12 really did sign an agreement to fund news coverage from the Los Angles Times. The Pac 12 is so desperate to shift perception and that even may be a little understandable, what is hard to understand is how has Larry Scott been able to retain his position as commissioner for so long.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
The relationship between Ohio State University and Lebron James could even grow stronger. Now arguably one of the greatest basketball players of all time, if not the greatest, James also would have likely enrolled at Ohio State back in 2003, if he had not been allowed to enter the NBA draft out of high school. For sure, I would have been one of those kids that went off to Ohio State, and that #23 jersey would have been sold all over the place. The Schottenstein Center would have been sold out every single night if I were there. While in high school at Akron St Vincent St Mary, Lebron led them to 3 OHSAA state titles in 4 years.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
It probably should not come as a surprise to anyone, that the Ohio State football program is year in and year out, one of the top programs in the country. That old saying ( that the early bird gets the worm ) certainly rings true in this case. As of today, the Buckeyes have already offered 7 sophomore's around the country , scholarships for the 2023 class. I should also add that they are not the only program around the country that is doing the same thing. It won't be long before they start offering kids when they are in the 8th or 9th grade as well.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
It's becoming clearer and clearer that if we are going to have college football this fall, we're going to have to get a little creative. A few college teams have already shown off their protective face coverings and faceshields. LSU and Texas rolled out transparent face coverings, which the Tigers call "splash Shields", which go behind the facemask much like a traditional transparent visor, except it covers the lower portion of the facemask as well. North Dakota State , as well as Oklahoma and 7 other Missouri Valley Conference teams are taking a different approach to face coverings, instead using a fabric face mask attached to the helmet. If we want to play football, this is what we have to do, said N.D.S. head coach Matt Entz. Our players are wearing masks in the weight room, plus everywhere that we go. This is what we have to do.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Four-Star outside linebacker Gabe Powers of Marysville High School ( Ohio ) has committed to the Buckeyes a short time ago. Mike Powers ( Gabe's Dad ) figures it was only a few day's ago, when Buckeye assistant coach Al Washington sent him a couple texts that read something like this: I want to bring the strong linebacker tradition back to Ohio State, and your son is gonna help me do that. No one is going to watch over Gabe like I will. He's the #1 guy that I need in this class. Tonight, Washington got his wish, Power's, a 4-star prospect ranked as the #45 overall player, the #2 outside linebacker and the #1 Ohioan in the Class of 2022. Power's chose to end his recruitment knowing where he's been wanting to end up all along. Washington knew how talented the Marysville High School ( Ohio ) defensive standout was very early on in Power's career.

A potential first round draft pick in next years 2021 NFL draft has decided to opt out will not play in this 2020 college football season. Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley, who is ranked as the #9 overall prospect and #1 ranked cornerback for the 2021 NFL draft, announced that he will not play this fall, instead choosing to start preparing for his professional football career. He may be the first to opt out, but I have an idea he won't be the last. If they decide to move this fall's season to the spring, I think you will see a lot of players decide not to play in the spring.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
I really thought that we had seen all of the College Watch Lists, but apparently not. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was named to the Manning Award Watch List. Fields is one of 30 players on the list. This award has been presented since 2004 to the best quarterback in the nation, and unlike the other awards, is handed out after bowl season and any other postseason games. No Buckeye has ever won the award, but former Buckeye Joe Burrow won the award last season.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Ohio State cornerback commit Jordan Hancock has announced that he is going to sit out his senior season due to concerns about Covid-19. Hancock has decided to sit out his senior season at North Gwinnett High School, also because of the fact that both of his parents have " underlying health conditions," and the younger Hancock wants to limit his interaction's with other people in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 5:24 pmJordan Hancock was ranked 294th over all, No-24 at CB and No-26 in the state of Georgia in Mid-January. He became one of the fastest rising prospects in the nation by the time he was offered by Clemson in early Jan. For a while, it looked like he was a Buckeye lean until he made an Unofficial visit to Clemson in March, and a commitment to Dabo Swinney's program soon followed. He said that how hard the Buckeyes continued to recruit him, was a big factor in him deciding that he really wanted to be a Buckeye. He also said that the atmosphere at the game that he watched the Buckeyes and Wisconsin play, was intense and that it was the best visit that he had taken. Hancock will come to Columbus as a 4-star CB who polished his game while playing at the highest level of high school football in Suwanee, Georgia.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:09 pm Four Star cornerback Jordan Hancock has decommitted from Clemson, and has committed to Ohio State. The Buckeyes have reached into Clemson's pocket and snagged one of America's best cornerbacks in the class of 2021. He gives the Buckeyes their 12th top 100 player, and the country's #6 ranked CB in the class of 2021. Hancock's offer sheet was impressive, as he held offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida State, and many more.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Former Ohio State long snapper Liam McCullough has been waived by the Las Vegas Raiders. Because NFL teams are only allowed to take 80 players into training camp instead of 90 this year, McCullough won't get the chance to compete for the long snapping job. With no preseason games in addition to smaller training camp rosters this summer, it's a tough year to be an undrafted free agent trying to make it in the NFL.

The reigning Big Ten receiver of the year in 2019, has decided to opt out of the 2020 season. Minnesota Gopher junior Rashod Bateman said that he will not play in the 2020 football season in light of the uncertainty surrounding the health and safety in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and instead declare for the 2021 NFL draft.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:28 pm A potential first round draft pick in next years 2021 NFL draft has decided to opt out will not play in this 2020 college football season. The NCAA has denied Ohio State wide receiver C.J. Saunders request for a 6th year of eligibility. A former walk-on who earned a scholarship in 2018, and was also named a captain in 2019 ( even though he didn't get to play the whole year ) and was the leading candidate to be the Buckeyes #2 slot receiver behind K.J. Hill before his injury. Ohio State Head Coach said the plan is for Saunders to join Ohio States coaching staff in some capacity, but specifics are not available yet.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Ohio State will have seven team captains for the upcoming 2020 football season. Senior linebacker Tuf Borland and Senior defensive end Jonathon Cooper, are joined by redshirt junior right guard Wyatt Davis, junior QB Justin Fields, senior linebacker Justin Hilliard, redshirt junior center Josh Myers and redshirt junior cornerback Shaun Wade as Ohio State team captains for the 2020 football season. The Buckeyes have now had exactly seven captains in four out of the last 5 seasons dating back to the 2016 season.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
For the third time in his Buckeye career, Tuf Borland is a captain. The Ohio State linebacker has became just the 2nd player in Ohio State history to be named a captain three times in his career, joining J.T. Barrett. Before Borland, Barrett stood alone as Ohio States only three time captain, leading the Buckeyes during the 2015, 2016, and the 2017 seasons.

Ohio State football commit, tight end Sam Hart still plans on enrolling early at Ohio State, despite Colorado moving high school football to the spring. Sam Hart has joined the ranks of fellow future Ohio State teammates TreVeyon Henderson and Jordan Hancock, in announcing that he will be foregoing his senior season of high school football.

Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is expected to opt out of the 2020 college football season and declare for the 2021 NFL draft. Parsons is expected to make the decision official Wednesday morning. Multiple people close to the Penn State program are expecting him to leave barring a last minute change of heart.VetteMan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:14 pmThe reigning Big Ten receiver of the year in 2019, has decided to opt out of the 2020 season.
