If Cam Newton wants to hit the ground running whenever training camp begins for the New England Patriots, he better have some chemistry with his #1 receiver, that's why he and Julian Edelman are working out together ahead of camp. This is the first time that we have seen the two of them working out together this offseason. Newton signed with the Patriots on June 28th, and since then we have seen and heard of him working out with 2019 1st Rd pick N'Keal Harry and 2020 3rd pick Devin Asiasi Mohamed Sanu. If Newton had a full, normal offseason to learn the playbook, it's hard to imagine him not winning the starting QB job, but right now it might be a toss up as to who wins the starting job ? Second year QB Jarrett Stidam had been projected to be the starting QB before the signing of Newton, and having been in the system for a year, he just might have a leg up to be able to start the season as the starter. I doubt very much that the Patriots play very many games, before we see Cam Newton trotting out onto the field as the starting QB.

Vonn Bell wants to help deliver another football championship to the State of Ohio. The Chattanooga native who intercepted 6 passes and totaled 91 tackles during Ohio States 2014 season, to help propel the Buckeyes to a National Title, is excited about his next stop in the NFL. The 5'11",217 lb safety signed a 3yr 18 million dollar deal with the Bengals on March 25th. Bell though versatile as a safety, has built a reputation for being one of the leagues best at his position when it comes to stuffing the run. Though his ability to bring down ball carriers is established, he has averaged 87 tackles per season in the NFL. I want to make plays and have a lot of interceptions like I did at Ohio State, but to me it's still all about what I can do to help our team win, I want us to succeed more than I want personal accolades.

Washington (Redskins) QB Alex Smith, Who suffered a serious tibia and fibula fracture in Nov. 2018, and hasn't played since, was cleared for full football activity on Friday. A lot of people did not think that Smith would ever play football again because of how serious the injuries appeared to be. Smith is now going through Covid-19 testing and if cleared, will report to the teams facility on Monday. He will then undergo a physical before the team determines what his next steps will be for him to participate in training ,camp. Smith said, that for him the most important thing will be practice, I have to go prove to myself and certainly everybody else that I can go practice. The (Redskins) most certainly did not have a very good year last year, and D. Haskin's as a rookie QB had his up's and down's as well, which was probably to be expected. What's a little ironic in this situation, is the fact that Alex Smith was a very good QB for Urban Meyer at University of Utah, and then we know what kind of year that Haskin's had as the starting QB for Urban at Ohio State.

Not really free agency, but it is NFL football. The New York Jets have traded Safety Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks for multiple 1st Rd draft picks. Adams is finally getting his wish. One of the NFL's best safeties has been angling for a trade from the Jets for quite sometime, and now it appears as if he's headed to the Seahawks in a blockbuster deal that includes a pair of future 1st Rd picks. The Jets have traded Adams and a 4th Rd pick in 2022 to Seattle in exchange for Bradley McDougald (Safety) , for a 1st Rd pick in 2021, a 3rd Rd pick in 2021, and a 1st Rd pick in 2022. The deal is pending physicals. Adams, the #6 overall pick in the 2017 draft starred at LSU, before becoming a 2-time Pro Bowler as well as a 2-time All-Pro. He had recently had a falling out with the Jets leadership, leading him to request a trade.

Former Buckeye Great Joey Bosa is now the NFL's highest paid defensive player. Bosa has agreed to a 5-year, 135 million contract extension with the Los Angles Chargers, that includes 78 million fully guaranteed at signing and 102 million in total guarantees, both a NFL record for a defensive player. Bosa has now surpassed WR Michael Thomas, who signed a 5-year, 100 million contract extension with the New Orleans Saints a year ago, to become the highest paid former Ohio State player in the NFL. Joey record will probably stand until brother Nick's rookie contract expires, and he then signs his next contract which will in all likelihood surpasses Joey's present contract.

Well it appears as if QB Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Raven's is really stumping for the Raven's to sign Antonio Brown. Apparently AB has Lamar's stamp of approval, Jackson say's that there is no quit in AB, and that's the type of guy that we need in our locker room. Jackson said that the locker room of the Raven's, is different than any other locker room in the NFL. If Jackson has any spare time to himself, it would probably be worth his time to give "Big Ben" a call, to maybe see just how great a teammate AB was the last year or so that he was on the Steelers. Being that I'm not a Raven's fan, I hope they do sign him, it would be interesting to see how much harmony he brings to their locker room.

Antonio Brown has vowed to deliver "the best season" of his career after the wide receiver learned he would be suspended for the first eight games of the 2020 NFL season. The 32 yr old finally discovered his fate Friday, as the league suspended the seven time Pro Bowler for half of the 2020 regular season due to multiple violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. Brown had been the subject of an NFL investigation following accusations of sexual misconduct, and an incident in January where he pleaded no contest to burglary and battery charges.

Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been released by the Pittsburg Steelers. The former Ohio State QB was one of eight players released by the Steelers on Sunday in their cut down to 80 players for the start of their training camp.

The deadline for the NFL players to be able to opt out of the 2020 NFL season will be Thursday at 4 PM. The original agreement stipulated that the opt-out deadline for the players would be seven days after the attorneys had finished all of the paper work, but as the process continued to drag on, the owners wanted the deadline to be set sooner than that. I find it hard to believe that anyone would even possibly think that a lawyer might drag something on. Lol

If a player decides to opt out this season because of Covid-19 concerns, and is considered high risk for the virus, he can earn $350,000 and an accrued NFL season when opting out. Players not at risk will earn a $150,000 stipend for sitting out the season. As of right now with still a little over a day to go, ( 4:00 PM, Thursday ) before deciding whether or not you are going to opt out or not, there have been over 50 players so far that have already opted out.

The Buffalo Bills prospects for the 2020 NFL season could change significantly if CB Tre'Davious White decides to opt out. White has not decided whether to play or to opt out due to the coronavirus concerns, if White opts out that is a huge blow for the Bills defense. Since I posted the topic above with over 50 players opting out, there has already been additional players that have opted out, and I would be very surprised if more didn't also decide to opt out before the 4:00 PM deadline tomorrow afternoon.

A judge in Florida has ruled against Antonio Brown in a lawsuit accusing the sidelined NFL wide receiver of trashing a South Florida condominium. It has also been reported that a Miami judge had sanctioned Brown, and had entered default judgement against him for engaging in "intentional delay tactics." The judge granted the Plaintiff's motion against Brown, and a counterclaim filed by Brown was "dismissed with prejudice." How does a person go from being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, to not being able to walk up and down the street without getting into some kind of trouble ?
