In all the doom and gloom surrounding college football, it is uplifting to see a little humor from OSU kicking specialists. Then again young guys may not get it and be concerned about lack of social distancing and no masks:

Holy cow !!!

I didn’t know rhis !!!

I was watchin a classic football game with Kirk playing against Louisville from 1992. Both teams QBs were sons of former football players for teams. Hebstreit snd Brohm. You can tell who played for Woody Hayes and who did it. Their demeanor and attitude were two totally different for trains. Herb Street said I did not raise my sons to be wussy’s. Hahahahah. And never broke a smile saying it. Haha.

This "tweet" is likely sour grapes blowing off steam by the Penn State AD, but is interesting nonetheless:

After calling it Quits due to a history of concussions, one of country's best tight ends is returning to football. Oklahoma tight end Grant Calcaterra announced Saturday that he is unretiring and entering the Transfer Portal. It is something that I have been considering now for sometime since I stepped away. My love and passion for the game are the reasons for my return. I needed the time away to be able to reflect on what was best for me.

When 4-Star linebacker Gabe Powers from Marysville, Ohio committed to the Buckeyes earlier this month, he was asked how dangerous the combination of he and C.J. Hick's would be, as they are two of the top eight outside linebackers in the 2022 class. Powers said that his fellow commit Hick's should be ranked higher, he should be ranked a lot higher. Today, Rivals took heed of Powers words, by making him a 5-Star prospect, and the #4 overall player in the 2022 class.

The Buckeyes got a commitment today from 4-Star Athlete Dasan McCullough, giving Ohio State their 5th pledge in the class of 2022. McCullough plays at Blue Valley North High School in the state of Kansas, even though he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. McCullough is the #70 overall player, the #7 overall athlete and #1 player in the state of Kansas. He is the son of the Kansas City Chiefs running backs coach Deland McCullough, a former star running back at Miami (Ohio). He has an older brother, Deland, who currently plays defensive back for Miami (Ohio). Not only does his brother play for the RedHawks now, but both his father and grandfather also played there as well.

Shaun Wade's Father, Randy Wade is planning a "Peaceful Show of Force" at the Big Tens Headquarters to protest the Big Tens Conference's decision to shut down the 2020 Big Tens football season. So on Monday evening, Wade booked a flight from his home state to Florida to Chicago, where he'll arrive on Thursday with plans to lead what he called a "Peaceful Show of Force" outside the Big Tens Headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois on Friday. I still find it hard to believe that Kevin Warren made the decision to pull the plug and shut down the 2020 Big Ten season on his own, without the Presidents, the AD's and probably the Big Ten Lawyer's advising against trying to play, because of potential lawsuits down the road. We may never know the whole truth about what really happened, as there have been so many conflicting reports given.

Al Washington is an Assistant Coach for the Buckeyes who has been discussed in this space, in terms of his effectiveness as a recruiter for the Buckeyes, in how he builds relationships and the resounding seal of approval from a multitude of Buckeye recruits, both committed and uncommitted ones. On Tuesday 247 Sports named him as the #1 recruiter in the 2022 class. He was actually already #1 prior to Tuesday, but he just padded his stats more with McCullough's commitment.

Justin Fields continues to fight for the reinstatement of the fall Big Ten football season, but he says he hasn't given much thought to his future if a fall season does not happen. Fields says he has not yet considered whether he will play a spring college football season if it comes to fruition, acknowledging that the situation is too influx to make a decision right now. Right now I'm just taking it day by day, one thing I've learned over this whole process is that things can change daily. So I've kind of just taken each day at a time, so hopefully, I'll come up with a decision if that happens and just pray about it, really. However, Fields has not yet given up on playing a fall season, as he explained his position and why he and his teammates would feel safer with a season, rather than without it due to the safety measures in place around the football facilities.

I appreciate Fields, other players and their parents lobbying for the Big10 to play, but the silence from Gene Smith and Ryan Day speaks volumes about the conference decision. That along with rumors of the Big10 starting to make plans for an alternative season is the nail in the coffin of fall ball.

No chance of BIG10 going back on their decision. Much as I would like them to reconsider. It’s not gonna happen. I think when they advocated for player safety concerns and Fields once saying about not feeling safety was not as “attacked” by the BIG10 as OSU had in place to me backfired and was the final bail in the coffin to the decision to have a season or not. It may not been have. Been the #1 reason but it sure didn’t help. And I think Fields knows it and is doing all he can to back pedal and try to fix it.

Ohio State commit Gabe Powers, from Marysville, Ohio , is now a 5-Star and is ranked as the #1 ranked Outside Linebacker in the USA. Mike, Gabe's dad, used to joke that Gabe should have been ranked #1 all along, as Gabe was presently ranked as the #2 Outside Linebacker in the 2022 class. Well Mike doesn't have to joke anymore, as today Gabe was ranked as the #1 OSL in America.

Former Buckeye defensive end/defensive tackle Jashon Cornell will spend his rookie NFL season on injured reserve. The Detroit Lions have placed Cornell on injured reserve as he has suffered a pretty severe left Achilles Tendon injury late in their practice. Cornell was selected by the Lions in the 7th round of this years NFL 2020 season. I always felt that he was one of the most valuable defensive linemen that the Buckeyes had, as he could play anywhere along the defensive front, and do a good job at any position.

Former Ohio State defensive tackle Robert Landers is finally going to get his chance, as he has a workout scheduled for tomorrow with the Cleveland Browns. If heart had anything to do with it, I would put my money on Robert Landers. His biggest asset is how fast he is off the ball, he's just a little undersized as a defensive tackle especially his height. The odds are really stacked against him or anyone else as well in a situation such as his, I just wish him a lot of luck.

Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson had this to say about former Buckeye defensive back Damon Arnette. I'm not sure who number 20 is for the Raiders, but please let him know that whoever he trained with needs a significant raise because his technique, patience and lateral movement is power point worthy. Chad should know a little bit about defensive backs, as he did face some good ones in his career.

There Are Lies, Damnable Lies, Then There Are Cruel Lies That Give False Hope:

From a Morgantown WV so called news voice:

Over the past couple of days, there has been a lot of smoke surrounding the Big Ten reportedly reconsidering the idea of cancelling the football season this year. And when there’s smoke, there’s typically fire.

Back on August 10th, the Big Ten Conference voted to cancel Fall sports this season by an overwhelming vote of 10-2. However, since then, players and players’ parents have spoken out and pushed for a season this year.

The Big Ten has been rumored to be working on a deal with its members to play and now it appears that it is “very close” to happening.

According to David Hookstead of The Daily Caller, “Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Nebraska are reportedly nearing an agreement to play their own football season starting in late September that would be 10 games.” Hookstead added, “A source said it’s ‘very close’ to being a done deal. Let’s go!”

Ohio State football recruiting reportedly in "pause" status, per Letterman Row. Apparently the lack of solid information about a spring season, lack of specific rules about expanded eligibility and roster sizes due to covid-19 is creating uncertainty at Big 10 schools:

University of Nebraska football parents, including the McCaffreys who are the parents of Christian of the Carolina Panthers, Luke of U. of Nebraska, and Dylan of Michigan, have threatened to file a lawsuit for immediate relief in a Federal District Court on Monday, if the Big Ten does not release All information pertaining to the vote to cancel the season, including how each individual voted, recordings and notes. The relief sought would no doubt involve immediate reinstatement of the Big Ten fall sports due to the enormous ramification for the student athletes caused by it's cancellation. Since it is unlikely the Big Ten will comply with the letter, a court filing is likely imminent on Monday.
