UCLA has filed a lawsuit against Under Armour on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Los Angles for breach of contract, seeking damages in excess of 200 million. Under Armour announced in late June that it was ending it's deal with the University. The two sides were 4 years into a 15 year deal worth 280 million, which remains the highest in college athletics. A spokesman for the University said that it is unfortunate that Under Armour is opportunistically using the global pandemic to try to walk away from a binding agreement it made in 2016, but no longer likes.

University of Central Florida ( UCF ) Head Coach Josh Heupel said that 10 of his players have decided to opt out and not play in the 2020 football season. He said a few of the players were projected starters on defense, as well as the back-up quarterback. Heupel also said that the opt-outs naturally were due to the concerns about Covid-10.

Deion Sanders is making moves off the field the way he used to as an NFL Hall of Famer. Weeks after leaving the NFL Network for Barstool Sports, comes a report that he will be a candidate for the just opened head coaching position at Jackson State. Jackson State dismissed head coach John Hendrick earlier along with most of his staff. Offensive Coordinator T.C. Taylor, retained from the previous staff, is also a candidate for the job.

Former Ohio State offensive tackle Taylor Decker has signed a 6 year 85 million contract with the Detroit Lions. The 85 million includes 37.5 million in fully guaranted money. The final year of the contract is voidable, but he is set to make 60 million in new money from 2021-2024. With an average annual value of more than 14 million, Decker is now one of the NFL's 10 highest paid offensive tackles.

Former Ohio State running back Rod Smith has been released by the Las Vegas Raiders. Smith had been with the Raiders since December, but played only on special teams for them last season. The Raiders still have 3 former Buckeyes on their roster, Rackwon McMillan, Jonathan Hankins and Damon Arnette. NFL teams are required to trim their rosters down to 53 players on Saturday, so there will be many more cuts to come throughout the league this week.

The Ohio State Buckeyes just got a commitment this evening from three-star tight end Bennett Christian, a 6' 6", 235 lb player out of Allatoona High School in Acworth, Georgia. He will be the 6th commitment in the 2022 class. He had narrowed his final three down to the Buckeyes, Penn State and Tennessee, which finally came down to the Buckeyes and Tennessee. He said he had made his mind up 2 or 3 weeks ago that it was going to be the Buckeyes, so he just decided to commit now.

Former Ohio State assistant coach Jeff Hafley took over the Boston College head coaching job in January, after the Buckeyes played Clemson ( I had tried my best to not think about those officials again ) in the National Semifinals, and had just a couple of months to get acclimated and settled in, before the coronavirus pandemic shut the school down. He said everything has been pretty hectic at times, as it has been everywhere else as well. Our players feel safe, and they very much want to play. My job is to coach theme the best that I can, and as hard as I can. We are excited, and can hardly wait for the season to get started.

After yesterday's tweet by Trump, there was a glimer of hope that the Big 10 would play starting in October. That now appears not likely as the conference is still debating player testing and safety protocols.

Venus William's made her 22nd Women's singles U.S. Open appearance this year, the most all-time among women. But on Tuesday night William's lost in straight set's 6-3, 7-5, to Karolina Muchova. The defeat marked the first time that William's, 40, has fallen in the first round of the U.S. Open singles draw.

Ohio State junior linebacker Ben Schmiesling has entered the transfer portal. Schmiesling walked-on at Ohio State for the 2018 season. He was a two-star recruit out of Piqua High School north of Dayton. Schmiesling was an OSU Scholar-Athlete his first two seasons in Columbus, and was Academic All Big Ten as a sophomore. In 2020, he was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. He appeared in two games last fall and made one tackle.

Kind of crazy news out of Athens, Georgia, as graduate quarterback Jamie Newman has elected to sit out the 2020 season, after just transferring from Wake Forrest to University of Georgia in January. He said he's skipping the 2020 season to train for the 2021 NFL draft.

Football in Georgia is kind of chaotic at best. High school schedules have been start - stop due to the contagion. College campuses have been covid hotbspots. Newman has some mid round NFL draft potential. Why take the risk of playing this season and getting sick or injured and blowing a million dollar NFL paycheck? Honestly I am shocked that several Ohio State players have not opted out.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Devin Smith as one of five players released by the Dallas Cowboys today. Smith, spent all of last season with the Cowboys, and even caught 5 passes in the first 3 games for 113 yards, but then only played in one more game the rest of the season. After being a 1st round pick by the New York Jets, he has just never been able to stay healthy for a long enough period of time to really show what he could do.

Well after a glimmer of hope over the last 24 hours that the Big 10 might reverse course and play a limited schedule, will this news item kill all hope until the China Flu is behind us? After all this is science from a doctor. (sarcasm?)

Headline: NCAA Will Furlough It's Entire Staff Amid Financial Difficulties From The Coronavirus Pandemic. NCAA employees are facing furloughs this fall and winter. The governing body sent out a memo to it's staffers at it's Indianapolis office on Wednesday outlining furloughs that will take place from September through January. While executives at the NCAA will not be furloughed, { God forbid they would be furloughed.) the NCAA had previously announced that it's upper-level management would be taking paycuts because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Former North Carolina State men's basketball coach, Mark Gottfried, is suing the school for buyout money he say's has been improperly withheld. Attorney's for Gottfried, now the head men's basketball coach at Cal State Northridge, filed the lawsuit in a North Carolina federal court on Monday, saying that North Carolina State violated a March 2017 termination agreement. N.C. State was due to pay Gottfried's remaining salary in monthly installments through the April 2020 end of his contract, according to a copy of the agreement filed with the lawsuit. The complaint states that the school has not paid Gottfried since August 2018.

North Texas quarterbacks coach Tate Wallis has been placed on administrative leave after he was charged with two counts of having an improper relationship with a student when he was coaching high school football in 2019. The two charges are felonies in the state of Texas. Wallis was coaching at Argyle High School in 2018 before being hired at North Texas in January 2020. The charges of a improper relationship between an educator and a student, supposedly happened between October and December. North Texas released a statement saying they have initiated a review of the available information, and will take appropriate action following completion of the review.

Call me crazy but I seriously believe the big ten is going to reverse course and play soon. The Michigan’s high school sports reversal and rumors of their finally being enough teams to pass the B1G vote being on the same day really gets you thinking.
