Re: Wk 2- Gallia academy @ Ironton
With how much gallia returned and ironton lost from last year i definitely expected a better game than this
no competition don't gotta compete, I'm already winning this isn't defeat
Re: Wk 2- Gallia academy @ Ironton
i was unable to attend tonight because of the covid 19 restrictions... did Gallia Academy take any team photos at mid field after the game?

If Gallia has 4 D1 players and got massacred like that again by Ironton then at what point do you begin questioning why does this keep happening? Penrod and company is now on the clock.

Ironton did a fantastic job of containing Armstrong i dont know if he even had 20 yards rushing

Are we done hyping up Gallia? They haven’t lived up to the hype since 2018. They haven’t showed up in big games since. It’s easy to beat the South Points of the world, but they gotta be more competitive in big games.

Re: 2020 Ironton 55 - 7 Gallia Academy
I believe the 2018 team had a lot of seniors playing varsity since they were sophomores. The experience of losing as sophomores and then winning a few games as Juniors helped build that hunger when they were seniors. Then fill in so.e support from other classes and you have a winner. The people from the French City tell me they have talent just seems like a certain hunger and resiliency is missing when playing opponents that may be better.

That’s probably Gallias biggest problem. One kid in football can’t beat a team like ironton. A team that stops ironton will have to be either lights out defensively or have multiple weapons in a shoot out gameMrFirstTake wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 11:55 pm Ironton did a fantastic job of containing Armstrong i dont know if he even had 20 yards rushing

Agreed. I would also say the D1 caliber players don’t show up in big games. Makes you wonder if they are D1 worthy.

Re: 2020 Ironton 55 - 7 Gallia Academy
Just Re-Watched on the flat screen.
I was a bit concerned With Gallia size prior to this game & Armstrong returning.
I knew Ironton would adjust, but size like that can cause some Injury, and that was my main concern.
From the last time Gallia traveled to Ironton, the work the Fighting Tigers have put in is the difference now.
The tenacity and strength the tigers have negated the Size advantage and was evident each snap.
Watching it on my tv today, as compared to an iPhone+;
I was able to see how dominant Ironton controlled the LOS, & those big boys.
Speed, athleticism, & fundamentals are present and have been instilled in the Ironton players & they are extremely deep and able to sub out quickly.
Prior to game, My concerns were this that could potentially challenge IHS:
1.Gallia’s Size:
•Sr. • T, DE • 6' 6" • 280
•Sr. • DT, C • 6' 3" • 298
•So. • T, DT • 6' 7" • 302
-MAN HANDLED BY TIGERS & INJURY FREE-
2. Armstrong being healthy this year.
-James Armstrong 7 rush attempts minus 9yds.
TIGERS CONTROLLED HIM.
So, after this showdown, the tigers are definitely rolling.
They need to work on the pass defense.
Portsmouth was able to gain yardage via the air, but the tigers adapted & Gallia followed P-Town’s lead and was able to do the same & score on a 80+yard pass/TD.
-Noah Vanco 11/23 for 173 yards-
Tighten up that secondary and DO NOT let anyone get behind you in any scenario. Pass will be stopped.
Clean up the penalties.
Both games. All teams have had many penalties & that has got to be cleaned up.
Coach Pendleton knows this. It was part of the Pre-Game interview.
Very impressed with the weapons tigers have all over the field & the play of QB Sophomore Carpenter!
Grrrrreat Job.
GoTigersGo!!!

Ironton is DEEP.
That's gonna be a problem for any area team to hold off for 4 quarters. Fundamentally sound. Passionate. Hungry. Balanced. Well coached. Motivated. They FEEL the pressure and it sure feels like they have embraced it as a program. Doesn't matter if it is Burg, Jackson, Waverly, Columbus Academy, etc etc. If ya match up w this group ya gonna have to make sure you check all the boxes or ya gonna get beat up & ran out of the building

Looked like the Ironton Center may have tweaked his ankle. I know he has had some injury issues in the past. He stayed on the field so I assume he will be good to go?
