For the past three seasons, Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward has stood out as one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL. He is as dominant an interior lineman as there is in the league. Heyward has only improved with age. All three of his Pro-Bowl nods and both of his All-Pro selections have come during the past three seasons. The 6'5", 295lb capped his underrated 2019 campaign ranked #1 in stops (55) among defensive linemen, and with a new career high (83) in tackles. It also doesn't hurt that he is a former Ohio State Buckeye. Lol

Pittsburg Steelers Derek Watt is making an early impression. This summer, the Steelers running backs are adjusting to life with a new running back in front of them. The Steelers released Rosie Nix after 5 seasons, and signed Derek Watt to a 3yr contract. James Conner sees the potential of having another Watt brother on the team, charging through the line with him, so far, it's been awesome. Watt comes to work everyday, he's a leader as well. On the field he brings a lot of energy every day. I'm excited to be with Derek, he will help our team out a lot, especially on special teams as well. In the classroom, he sets the tone in there with his knowledge and how he picks things up. The team is looking to move forward from last season, with Derek Watt being part of the future.

About a month ago The Pittsburg Steelers signed tight end Dax Raymond. The Chicago Bears had released Raymond prior to his signing with the Steelers. After Raymond injured his ankle earlier this week, the Steelers waived Raymond with an injury designation Saturday morning. In the meantime, the Steelers have signed tight end Kyle Markway, an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina.

When Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was asked to recall the best moment of training camp so far, he didn't need time to ponder the question, It was taking that first snap from Pouncey my center. There's something about that guy, obviously he's a Hall of Famer, in my mind. He's a great teammate, a great player, and he said it and I will echo it, when he's done, I'm done. He then said that when you can't be on the field, it definitely does something to you for the next year.

The Pittsburg Steelers safety Marcus Allen is taking part in his 3rd NFL training camp since being a 5th round pick of the Steelers in 2018. Is it time for Allen to finally earn a regular roll with the Steelers defense ? Defensive backs coach, Tom Bradley, thinks this is a big year for Marcus, he's playing a lot faster this year, you can tell that he really understands the system. Marcus is a very versatile player, we can use him in a lot of different ways.

Devin Bush has been a camp standout so far. The second year inside linebacker has made a multitude of standout plays since the pads came on. Bush had a solid rookie season in the NFL, but still has some work to do to become the bona-fide household name he was in Ann Arbor. The Steelers traded up to get him with the #10 pick, and he has shown the sideline to sideline speed nearly every down that he is on the field.

While the Steelers second round pick Chase Claypool seems to be receiving all the hype, third round pick Alex Highsmith is earning praise from high ranking Steeler coaches. On Monday it was head coach Mike Tomlin who lumped Claypool together with Highsmith. Tuesday it was defensive coordinator Keith Butler agreeing, saying that Alex has really shown that he belongs in the NFL.

The Steelers are going to face some impossible choices with their pending free agents. With the Potential of a lowered cap next offseason, the Steelers have been put in an impossible position. Players like JuJu Smith-Schuster, running back James Conner, offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva and defensive tackle Cam Heyward are all going to be free agents. And this is just the shortlist. we could easily include offensive tackle Matt Feiler and cornerback Mike Hilton to this group.

Pittsburg Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin is very concerned about an NFL season. Tomlin said he didn't know if he was extremely confident. I respect the challenges these circumstances have presented to the other leagues, some of which we are witnessing. I think we are all proceeding with caution and working extremely hard not to become a part of that. We have some people in leadership positions, and medical professionals, who have led the charge for us in the NFL, and we are working very hard to adhere to it and hoping that is enough, coupled with the personal decision-making that needs to be exhibited continually by our guys throughout the course of this.

When Chase Claypool was drafted this spring by the Steelers, it was by an organization known for it's hard working and productive wide receivers. Aside from his physical traits frame, speed and catching ability, the Steelers were attracted to Claypool's working habits. In his senior year at Notre Dame, Claypool earned The University of Notre Dame Monogram Club Most Valuable Player Award, which honors a student-athlete who displays a strong work ethic and commitment to the team before one's self.

Three weeks ago this week, the Steelers signed cornerback Joe Haden after he was cut by the Cleveland Browns. Pittsburg gave Haden a 3 year deal and he's performed at a high level ever since. In his seasons with the Steelers, Hayden has 8 interceptions and 36 passes defensed. I guess about the only thing that can be said is, playing for the Steelers and playing for the Browns, there does seem to be a distinct difference.

Reports indicate that the Steelers have released linebacker Tuzar Skipper on Friday. Skipper is the first of what will be many players released as he teams need to trim their rosters down from 80 to 53 by Saturday at 4 PM. The Steelers signed the University of Toledo product as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Pittsburg Steelers have agreed to a huge extension with star defensive linemen Cameron Heyward. Drafted out of Ohio State in 2011, the 31 year old celebrated on social media and left no doubt as to where his heart is, saying that Pittsburg is where I belong. The price is right if you like over the next 5 years is 75.1 million in total value. 65.6 million in new money ( includes last year of current deal.) A very well deserved deal for an All-Pro and leader of the Steelers defense.
