Ridgewood, ironton, Columbus academy and harvest prep will make a deep run. Division 5 will be kirtlands again this year is my guess.

Re: Division 5 is tough
I think when week 7 hits and the state starts getting the playoff money the crowd size will go up a lot. OHSAA is not going to take a loss during the playoffs. Letting every school in is a way to make up the loss as well.

You realize the OHSAA has zero to do with that? The Cincinnati Bengals are limited to 6,000 fans, the Reds get zero, and you think the OHSAA has more pull than those professional teams?Beergogglebluez wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:25 pmI think when week 7 hits and the state starts getting the playoff money the crowd size will go up a lot. Re: Division 5 is tough
Bengals and browns limited to 6000 fans for 2 games I thought. Nope just guessing but now that you mention it maybe putting every team in with limited fans balances out. With more teams and less people might be the same as a fewer teams and full stands. I’m just trying to make sense of these rules and what’s going on during this pandemic. I wish it was back to normal.thebarlowbandit wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2020 10:12 pmYou realize the OHSAA has zero to do with that? Re: Division 5 is tough
I remember watching Amanda clear-creek handle them (Columbus Academy) pretty easy last year in the playoffs but they could have returned a bunch of starters maybe but I don’t believe they would beat Ridgewood ironton or wheelersburg

Re: Division 5 is tough
I see nobody talking about Ridgewood as a top contender. Ridgewood was just a step below Ironton and Kirtland last year and returns more than both of them (I believe, can someone fact check that for me?). I think D5 is as deep as it's been since 2016 and 2017 when you had juggernauts like Coldwater, Canton Central Catholic, Pemberville Eastwood, Middletown Madison, and and even Wheelersburg during that time. Personally I think Ironton, Kirtland, and Ridgewood are the top 3. Wheelersburg and teams like Genoa Area, Roger Bacon always have talent and could make deep runs. I'm skeptical on Harvest Prep and Columbus Academy because while they have great athletes, how are they up front? Some of you can probably recall the 2017 regional semifinal between CA and Burg. CA completely outplayed Wheelersburg in the first half, their athletes were as good if not better than what Wheelersburg had which is saying something. But in the second half Burg came out and went right at them, completely out-physical'd CA. Went from 13-0 to 35-16 final.
Re: Division 5 is tough
D5 is the best chance for seo team to win. If all the small school divisions I would put 6 at the best by a long way. Toss up for me between 5 and 7. 5 may be better overall this year but the 7 winner would be heavy favorite over the 5 winner imo.

I feel like most people have placed Ridgewood in there top teams just by the few people who named teamsburgfella69 wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2020 1:26 pm I see nobody talking about Ridgewood as a top contender. I think Kirtland returns like 20+ from last season. And they play up.
Ironton is next.
Columbus Academy is gonna be a problem.

Re: Division 5 is tough
Sandy valley and ridgewood will tell us a lot this weekend.
Coaching led Kirtland past t sandy valley game 1 of playoffs last year.
Otherwise, Sandy Valley and same QB they have returning this year was giving Kirtland all they wanted until after HT.
Ridgewood is good & it’s gonna be a good game.
Ironton’s best games were against Ridgewood and west Jeff last year.
No1 had D like Kirtland last year!

Ironton is 2 tds better than last yr,because of the line play.Is that good enough to win it all? maybe.

The offensive weapons are more lethal this year... No disrespect to 2019!artisgilmore wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:48 am Ironton is 2 tds better than last yr,because of the line play.Is that good enough to win it all? maybe.
They’ve just improved so much depth wise because of in team competitive success!
Way more for defenses to stop.
Try to stop the main 3, there are 5 more that’ll zip by you & scouting teams won’t even know who they are....
Only weakness I see, is if a team has a very, & I mean very, mobile QB &/or a team that is fast to the outside edges run game.
Pass D will continue to be stellar.
D just has to contain/protect the edges with speed!
If so.....
Watch OUT!
Tigers’ll compete!!!!
