Not gonna argue with you as ND went 0-10 last year and no changes were made. So assuming they win a few games this year (Green and East for sure), the current coaching staff will be there as long as they want to be*
You are so on point! 0-10 last year. Who keeps their job going 0-10? 2-4 this year? Still keep your job? Yes, as long as he wants, nobody else wants it and nobody else wants him. He teaches Minford, they don’t want him, he applied for the NW job, they didn’t want him. Is his wife on the school board or the principal, that may be the only explanation.
Not saying whether ND should have made a change or not as I’m not close to the situation. Just saying that if no changes were made after a 0-10 season, none are coming after they win a few games this year.*
Why is losing acceptable? Is that the “best” the can get? 0-10 is easy to do!! I just don’t get it?

In a weak ass conference, you cannot say they do not have skill. None sense blaming the kids.

He Did indeed apply for that job!! The superintendent said so! PROVE ME WRONG!
I'm about 99.99% sure he didn't.
He did apply....but defend him all you want....how do you defend 0-12? Please explain. 31 players, not a numbers issue. Defend him!
I'm not defending him. Just saying I'm 99.99% sure he did not apply. When I'm at Northwest for practice in the morning I will ask.

Making a change wouldn’t do anything. Like you said earlier, the fact ND even has an 11-man program these days is commendable. People think it’s Ashley’s fault— uh, no. People need to realize that what’s in the cards is just that, full stop. ND’s lack of football success is a product of 1) declining economy; 1a) an ND education not even being the best in its county (hello, Wheelersburg, Minford and Valley); 2) the dying of Catholicism generation-to-generation; 3) a large core of families that have the means and the slightest bit of interest in private education instead opting to keep their kids at Burg and Minford, for free, rather than paying $6000k+ a year to have them attend school in Portsmouth.

I watched them last year out-of-conference. Incredibly slow secondary that would just wait 3-4 seconds after the ball is snapped, and then they react, and then they just get blown the hell up because they’re spending too much time thinking and not actually doing.

Not secondary’s fault! No attack up front! It is high school football.

There is so much potential at ND. Not sure of the record but it’s like 10-50 over the last 6 years. Who keeps that job? I’ll answer, somebody that can’t get a job anywhere else or nobody wants that job! Stop blaming the kids!!! Anybody can go 0-10!

In the game I’m referencing, ND’s d-line was actually getting some penetration inside the tackles against a big, athletic o-line. What I’m referring to is a particular play we ran a couple times before and again a few times that game, a HB toss. Corner for ND is just sitting there after the snap for several seconds before trying to attack, with the safety over the top not getting over until the ballcarrier is already 5 yards past the LOS. By the time the corner realizes to get up and make a play he’s already getting pinned in towards the sidelines by a wingback that’s already moved upfield 10 yards. And before the snap, you can hear one of the ND assistants yelling to “get up” and get closer to the LOS because they see exactly what’s going to happen.

I feel for ND. In all reality they would’ve started this year 3-0 if the schedules weren’t changed.

Agreed....sounds like the coaches don’t put the right players in the right spots.

First, I too feel for ND. The kids try but are hampered by poor coaching. As far as the secondary and their issues, it’s probably because of a position that was bought and paid for! Yes, that goes on!

If you think ND’s lone is good, you are in the weeds. Linebackers wait five yards deep and do not attack. No pressure means a halfway decent QB will pick your defense apart. Keep moving those backs dumbass. They are not the problem.

I’ve always heard that money talks at ND and they coaches do whatever they can do to protect their jobs. I think it is very obvious they don’t coach to win. They coach to protect. So sad for the kids!!!

Again, what ND is experiencing is largely a product of what the school is up against and the general decrease of kids playing football nationwide. And what they’re experiencing isn’t unique to ND. Plenty of other small Catholic schools across the state are experiencing the exact same thing this season. They have many of the same problems ND does, except with ND specifically those problems are greater in magnitude because of their tiny enrollment and the fact Scioto County isn’t home to the base of families (in numbers) that would alleviate what the school and consequently the football program is up against. I believe ND is still one of the five smallest football-playing schools in the entire state. Like, these problems with football just come with the territory— they’re inextricable, they’re hard and as others have said it is nothing short of remarkable that the Titans are still able to play 11-man football for as long as they have been.
