Has anybody not considered an Ohio State/Iowa rivalry. Seems like every year it is an important game for one or both teams, and it is ALWAYS close it seems. Last year took OT, this year took last minute heroics. There could possibly be an Ohio State/Nebraska rivalry created. Who knows??

When Penn St moved to the Big10 and stopped playing the eastern schools (Pitt, Syracuse, WVU) on a yearly basis they gave up their long standing rivalries like the others mentioned above.

New rivalries could be starting with MSU, OSU and etc.

Actually PSU OSU was on someone's list of Present Day Rivalry's not legendary ,
and if you want to talk about all time legendary rivalries PSU PITT is high on that list.

I would agree with that at one time but when was the last time these two played?

last time they played was in 2000, after penn state wanted 2 games at beaver stadium for every game in pitt, for the record out of the 96 games played between them 72 have been at pitt.

I can understand Pitt not agreeing to that deal. Why were so many played at Pitt? I just noticed last week that 65 of 103 games with WVU have been played at Pitt. Not sure the reason on that either. From 1910 through 1962 only 9 games played in Morgantown. Games were played in all but 3 years.

I would much rather see WVU get PSU back on the schedule than Maryland.

Even though we never beat PSU much, it was still a great game to watch. 2 big games every year, Pitt and Penn St.

Past Rivalry - Nebraska vs. Oklahoma

Future Rivalry - Nebraska vs. Penn State, Michigan, Iowa (maybe Ohio State if they meet enough in the Big Ten Championship Game)

I think its only time before Penn State vs. Ohio State is considered a rivalry game. Especially now they they are the two anchor schools for one of the divisions of the Big Ten.

I agree with all of the games on here.

But honestly, at this very moment, Ohio State vs. Michigan is not an intriguing rivalry to anyone outside the fan base. I used to love watching those games when they would be down to the wire and had a Big Ten or National Title on the line (and you all know how I feel about OSU.) Until Michigan gets back to the level they are used to, this rivalry lacks its appeal. I don't consider any game a rivalry if only one team wins. IMO

For those of you talking about OSU/Penn State as a rivalry, keep in mind there is a difference between a series of good games and a true "rivalry". OSU/Michigan have been playing for 100 years, are amongst the largest fanbases in the country, rich with football tradition, and have seasons defined by how they play each other. Conference titles, Rose bowl titles, and even national titles would all be gone if you lost this one game.

Just being competative against each other... not enough.

If you want to talk about potential "new" rivalries, OSU/Nebraska will be absolutely enormous every year. Nebraska has a great program with great tradition and one of the most rabid fan bases in the country. They'll fit in well.

Well seeing as how OSU doesn't even have Nebraska on the schedule every year, it certainly won't be "absolutely enormous ever year" Penn State has the crossover game with Nebraska every year, which will probably evolve into a much larger rivalry than an OSU/Nebraska game that will not even be played with any consistency.

Agree wholeheartedly with this.
