I sympathize with Jackson yearly when they travel above Chillicothe for playoffs.

Overtime
They went into Ot the first game this year and DeSales won. (DeSales, Watterson and Hartley play each other twice each this year in regular 6 game season). One of them should win a couple playoff games by beating each other up during the reg. season. I wonder Which one Jackson wants in rd. 1 ?

That’s what sucks. They are all three really good in region 11. One will have a bad record

Re: Region 11
The big problem for Jackson is the possibility that the public school coaches (as well as the CCL three) up along the I-70 corridor and north may vote Jackson at #7 or #8. That loss to Alder last year is going to loom large.

Yep and with Coaches seeding this year, strength of schedule will be a much bigger factor than record . (The Harbin points system is out the door this year and in reality if you've been around the block, coaches know teams better than any "fair" computation system anyway).formerfcfan wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:01 pm The big problem for Jackson is the possibility that the public school coaches (as well as the CCL three) up along the I-70 corridor and north may vote Jackson at #7 or #8. SOS means nothing in seeding. Seeding is based off wins. Been that way for years. Harbins is a pretty good system.FANOSPORTS wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:35 pm

Raider water you talkin’ about, man? Jackson’s not getting a high seed in this region, even if they go 6-0.Raider6309 wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 2:27 pmSOS means nothing in seeding. Of course the Catholic schools will get a lower seed because of their brutal schedules but Western Brown could be a dark horse. Their QB went for 500 yards vs state power Clinton Massie. He’s only a sophomore and will be playing on Saturday

Re: Region 11
This year is sorta like the old days when 9-1 or 10-0 teams who played no one were left out except with all teams opting in this year you will see a lot of 6-0 teams falling by the wayside after round 1 if the coaches vote as I think they will with SOS being a BIG factor because of the shortened season.formerfcfan wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 2:28 pmRaider water you talkin’ about, man? Jackson is definitely not going to be top 4. Strong possibility that DeSales, Hartley, Watterson all are ranked above Jackson. Winner of Alder/London will be above Jackson, as will winner of Tri-Valley/Sheridan.Raider6309 wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 2:54 pm Of course the Catholic schools will get a lower seed because of their brutal schedules but Western Brown could be a dark horse. Well you said last years playoff loss would weigh heavily on this years seedings . Curious as to why ?

Jackson hung around for a while against Alder, before JA pulled away. Alder won out with better conditioning and depth, and they were prepared better in regular season competition.Tommy Chong wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 4:46 pmformerfcfan wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 4:40 pmIt’s called discussion, something you struggle to contribute to on this one.

As to why it matters this time around, JA’s win over Jackson confirmed what many coaches up Columbus way have been thinking about Jackson: good coach, good fundamentals, some very good players, but no depth (compared to other top teams in the region) and an underwhelming schedule. All of the positives of Jackson is enough to make them a consistent playoff attendee, but it’s the product of lesser depth and lesser strength of schedule that makes them seem as not quite being on the level of the CCL teams, Alder/London and TV/Sheridan. Jackson has a very good team, but it’s hard to see how coaches will just vote them high on the record when the three Catholics are beating each other up and there are two other teams up their way that will be undefeated with more impressive wins.

Re: Region 11
Can’t really argue with any of that. Jackson has had some success against the teams up North with wins over Granville , Watterson , and Bexely. They played Desales rough a couple times but agree Jackson is a solid program in southern ohio. Not much around here for em. Agree need to play a couple heavyweights a year , and I don’t mean Wheelersburg Logan or Athens. I mean Clinton Massie , desales , or Hartley .formerfcfan wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 5:00 pmJackson hung around for a while against Alder, before JA pulled away.
