Athens will practice tomorrow morning at 7:45am.
Game is likely to be rescheduled following both teams playoff runs.

Also Wellston cancelled on Athens, Athens announced their first cases in the district this afternoon and the health department gave Athens the green light to hold the game. Athens team was on the field when wellston cancelled.

It just goes down as a cancellation/rescheduled game.... I said mark it for week 8. You can always change/update it.

Athens has a coach test positive, if this game was played and a player tests positive in a day or two then Wellston would have to quarantine for 10-14 days affecting the rest of the season, one can say Wellston cancelled but the positive test was out of Athens and exposure is the reason for this game not being played

From my understanding, Wellston’s decision was based on the fact the are returning to a full classroom environment Monday so they didn’t want to risk it. Very disappointed they did not listen to the Health Departments recommendation though.

From my understanding, Wellston’s decision was based on the fact the are returning to a full classroom environment Monday so they didn’t want to risk it. Very disappointed they did not listen to the Health Departments recommendation though.

This is the big deciding factor. Not a fan of Wellston canceling 2 hours prior to kickoff, but getting the kids in the classroom is far more important. I’m glad that there will be a reschedule date, not simply a cancellation.

You are correct. I read through the OHSAA guidelines and this was one of the reasons for having the season they way they are.
