Jackson State has produced four Pro Football Hall of Fame Players. Now, a Pro Football Hall of Famer will be coaching the football team at Jackson State. The latest reports are that Deion Sanders will become the next head coach at Jackson State. The school isn't playing in the fall of 2020 due to the pandemic, as it's scheduled to begin a spring season in February.

In what is just the latest twist in his collegiate career, former Ohio State and current Miami Hurricanes quarterback Tate Martell has opted out of the 2020 season. Martell was suspended for Miami's season opener, but was expected to return to the team this week. Following the suspension, Martell said "the work doesn't stop," causing many to assume he was back in the fold. And maybe he still is for 2021, or maybe he isn't ?

Things were looking very bleak for Navy. After getting destroyed 55-3 in their opener by BYU, the Midshipmen trailed Tulane 24-0 at halftime on Saturday, mustering only 59 yards of offense through two quarters. In the second half though, Navy uncharacteristically came out throwing and did so with great success. Dalen Morris, who did not start, had completions of 24, 44, 32, and 15 yards as he led Navy on a wild comeback. His 32 yard touchdown pass to Mychal Cooper (plus the two point conversion) tied the game at 24-24 with 13:22 to play. Bijan Nichols then drilled a 33 yard field goal as time expired to give Navy a dramatic win that was the biggest second half comeback in school history. What a great win for Navy, you can be assured that all three of the Service Academy's will never quit until the final second goes off the clock.

It was a bad day all-around in the NFL yesterday for 5 or 6 former Buckeyes as far as injuries were concerned. 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa suffered what very possibly could be a torn ACL, while Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell and Broncos defensive tackle Dre Mont Jones both left their games also with knee injuries. Colts safety Malik Hooker left his game with an Achilles injury, and Green Bay Packer center Cory Linsley left his game with some type of a hand injury. Bosa, Campbell and Jones are all in their second NFL season, while Hooker is in his fourth, and Linsley is in his seventh.

Unlike the Big Ten, Pac-12 schools such as UCLA and Oregon stopped their training programs, so while the Big Ten was operating as if the season would get moved up, plenty of Pac-12 schools were not. Given that the Pac-12 has been stating publicly that six weeks of full contact practices would be necessary before playing a competitive football game, the earliest all Pac-12 teams could play would be November 7th, even though many Pac-12 coaches and athletic directors would like to begin on October 31st.

U Mass says it will play football this fall, reversing an August decision to postpone the season until the spring. One of few independents in the Football Bowl Subdivision, the school says it will start in mid-October. Games still need to be scheduled, which could be a challenge because most leagues are playing a limited number of nonconference games, if any.

After being released by the Dallas Cowboys before the start of the regular season, former Ohio State wide receiver Devin Smith has landed with Texas's other team. The Houston Texans announced Monday that they had signed Smith to their practice squad. He will now join the 16 man practice squad, where performing well could eventually lead to a roster spot down the line, as the Texans look to bolster their offense after scoring just 36 points in their first two games of the season.

Mountain West Conference Officials are optimistic the league will vote this week for it's football programs to return to the field. The leagues Athletic Directors met on Monday and discussed with conference officials the final steps in returning, including a testing plan that involves frequent antigen testing. The final plan still needs to be approved by Mountain West Conference Presidents, who have a scheduled meeting for Friday but could end up voting earlier.

Purdue won't be without Rondale Moore after all in 2020. The star wide-receiver said Thursday that he would play when the Big Ten starts its season on October 24th. Moore made his announcement that he was opting back in, and that the Big Ten's safety protocols and daily rapid testing starting on September 30th were a huge factor in his decision to return.

Despite Deion Sanders lack of college coaching experience, Sanders himself will be a huge pull for potential college recruits. Plenty of his assistant coaches will be able to do the same thing. Along with Terrell Owens as Wide Receiver Coach, here's some of the other assistant coaches: Jason Phillips, Offensive Coordinator, Warren Sapp, Defensive Line Coach, Dennis Thurman, Defensive Coordinator, Mario Edwards Sr, Defensive Backs Coach and Jackson State holdovers, T.C. Taylor and Otis Ridley also on the staff. Sanders said that he already had his coaching staff put together for months, and that among that grouping are some very familiar names. I guess that's why he's always been known as "Primetime".

Pac-12 Presidents voted Thursday to start the 2020 season on the first weekend of November. The decision comes two days before the SEC season is set to begin, and exactly a month before the delayed 2020 Big Ten season is slated to start. Each of the conference's teams will reportedly play seven games, and the conference title game would be December 18th. The decision would allow the Pac-12 to be considered as part of the College Football Playoff selection process. A Pac-12 team hasn't made the playoff's since Washington lost to Alabama in the Peach Bowl at the end of the 2016 season.

LSU defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin has announced that he is opting out of the 2020 college football season, and will start to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. Shelvin was expected to be a major contributor for new defensive coordinator Bo Pelini's defense this fall. The Tigers are set to open the season on Saturday against Mississippi State. I'm a little surprised he would opt out a day and a half before the season opener on Saturday. It's probably one of three things, 1. He just realized that Joe Burrow is no longer at LSU, 2. He just now realizes that Bo Pelini will be his defensive line coach this year, 3. He just became aware that he will be lining up against Big Ten Com. Kevin Warren's son on Saturday. I'll pick #1.

After a lot of impatient waiting, hope and speculation, the Mountain West has made it official. The season postponed season is returning on October 24th. The decision was made on Thursday evening during a conference call to restart the football season, just over a month after the Mountain West made the decision to postpone the 2020 season to the spring of 2021. The Mountain West say's more information will be distributed on Friday morning. This could very well be a schedule release, or maybe information on some of the protocols that the conference plans to implement this fall. As the Mountain West statement clarifies, this plan is subject to approval from the state, county and local officials.

The MAC is returning to play in November of 2020. As of right now, that means that all 10 FBS conferences will be playing college football this fall. The MAC was the first to postpone the fall season back on August 8th. That set off a string of dominoes that saw the Mountain West, the Big Ten and the Pac-12 conferences to all follow suit. But the Big Ten's reversal has prompted a paradigm shift in the sport, as the MAC is the last of those leagues to return to play.

Former Ohio State All American defensive end Chase Young, the No-2 overall pick in this years NFL Draft by the Washington Football Team, left in the second quarter of todays game against the Cleveland Browns. Washington coach Ron Rivera didn't have an update on Young after the game, even though it appeared to be some type of a groin injury. The former Buckeye was to be evaluated on Monday.

If you were watching college football on Saturday, you may have noticed something unusual on the jerseys of a few players, the number 0, and if you were wondering if the number was jarring only because you hadn't noticed it in the past, no need to worry, it's new to everyone. So why has No-0 suddenly surfaced as a choice for players ? It's due to a recommendation in February by the NCAA Football Rules Committee, in response to the popularity of single digit numbers. We anticipate that there's going to be a lot of excitement for who's going to be the first player to wear zero at their institution. The change was approved in April by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel.
