Re: Gallia Academy @ Wellston (Sat, 9/19)
My statement still stands. Look at who we've lost to and how far they've gone. Ironton was a state finalist and will probably be just as good this year, come playoff time. Jackson is probably the second best team in the area and they're a solid D-III program. Licking Valley made the state semis as a 7 seed in D-IV R-15. Waverly is the only one that you can really attribute to bad coaching. But even still, 9/10 games, that Waverly team and this Waverly team is probably at least two touchdowns better than GA.

Do you not think that maybe Gallia’s “immediate” turnaround had anything to do with dropping to a god awful conference, except for Ironton.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:20 amLOL. you're kidding right? Three losses in the regular season in the last three seasons? Two, potentially three playoff appearances (against much more talented teams) and you're calling for the coaching staff to be fired? Get outta here.BigBlue99 wrote: Wed Sep 23, 2020 10:40 pm It’s time for a major change in the coaching staff at Gallia Academy. It’s embarrassing as a fan to watch it week in and week out. Zero accountability from them. No coaching the kids up during the game along with zero adjustments and terrible play calling.
Absolutely no coaching adjustments would've changed the outcome of the Ironton game last year, or this year. They're a top 40-50 team in the STATE. Not just SEO. Not just Division V. The entire state.
Waverly had more speed all over the field against our team that was also geared toward speed and getting players out in space.
Sometimes, you just come across teams that are outright better than yours and no coach, be he Bear Bryant or Vince Lombardi can change that.
I'm young enough to remember my graduating class winning a game against a winless Warren football team back in 2015. The year following, the boys only beat South Point, another winless team.
Then Coach P comes back and immediately turns the program around. 5-5. 9-2. 9-2. And so far, 3-1.
Past three seasons, the losses have been to Jackson and Licking Valley (LV made the state semis, iirc) Ironton (state finalist) and Waverly. And Ironton again, (also a likely state finalist team.)
Get some perspective, dude. We aren't even half a decade removed from the last 1 win season.

A lot of talent and an average conference definitely has helpedSEOP2001 wrote: Fri Sep 25, 2020 8:21 amDo you not think that maybe Gallia’s “immediate” turnaround had anything to do with dropping to a god awful conference, except for Ironton.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:20 amLOL. you're kidding right? It had an impact, sure. But the SEOAL was folding anyway. Besides Gallia was a doormat in 2016 and lost most league games by an average of 20+ points. They lost to RV. Point Pleasant. Meigs. Their lone win in that "weak conference" was against a winless South Point.SEOP2001 wrote: Fri Sep 25, 2020 8:21 amDo you not think that maybe Gallia’s “immediate” turnaround had anything to do with dropping to a god awful conference, except for Ironton.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:20 amLOL. you're kidding right? 2017 Coal Grove made it to a regional final, if memory serves.
OVC is weaker, relative to the SEOAL, but I'd wager most OVC teams could've beaten Warren or Marietta at least half the time.

Still on another level above the local teams.MrFirstTake wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:56 pmThey were missing like 3 pretty good starters and one lineman didnt play offense, besides the penalties and turnovers id say they're fine. If boggs can get back for the playoffs that would mKe a huge difference on the offense and defensive lineBlizzardMan wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:47 pmI gudss you're right. Turnover bug was bad. Can't make a deep run playing like that.traf1 wrote: Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:52 pm
They did not look like state final caliber last night at Rock Hill
