I get to see Floyd twice in one week? Wow.pfloyd wrote:... I had thought I was going to head for Meigs to catch the Meigs vs Athens contest Friday night BUT I don't think I can pass up the Alexander vs Vinton Co. game ... after seeing Athens I will have a good idea as to what Meigs brings to the table based on the MHS performance at home vs the Bulldogs ... the Saturday night I will be at the Alley to see Alexander vs Minford ... IF the Falcons are traveling into pfloyd territory I HAVE TO get out the see them, this should be a good game vs the Spartans ... the Logan Elm battle in Round town vs Circleville IS THE GAME of the weekend BUT I'll have a chance to see round #2 of this MSL match-up on the Reservation later in the season ... Minford vs Alexander wins out on Saturday night ...
... best of luck to all of the teams this weekend ... wish I was closer to Portsmouth to get down to see Portsmouth Clay vs Eastern Pike tomorrow night ... I would like to catch the Panthers in action as they are in striking distance of the Elite 8 for the first time EVER ...

oh yeah 93dog !!! pfloyd is hanging out in TVCland this weekend ... I still need to see Trimble as they are in the Elite 8 - they take on Belpre down on the river tomorrow night - that would be a good one too ... I'll get out to see Coach Caldwell's boys sooner than later ... Trimble is IN the Elite 8, Vinton County is IN the Elite 8, Alexander is knocking on the door with a few key losses by teams above them AND 2 good showings Friday and Saturday night (VC/Minford) the Spartans could make their way INTO the top 8 ... not bad for the TVC at all imo ...

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #1
That's odd seeing TVC teams in the Elite 8 - the preconceived notion coming into the season was that the TVC was going to be really down this year. Trimble lost a lot from last years team, but seem to be pretty solid. Not sure top 8 material, but time will tell. Meigs might be the team to look out for - but I'll learn more about the Marauders tomorrow night and fill you in on Saturday.pfloyd wrote:oh yeah 93dog !!! pfloyd is hanging out in TVCland this weekend ... B-C has 6-8 post and a couple of good guards.
Looking forward to watching Westfall this evening against Adena and then next Friday night against the U.

... Chesapeake beat Huntington St Joe this week 69-61 so this one should give us a little comparison between PHS & CHS (maybe) ...
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #1
St. Joe has several athletes and has size inside starting a 6'8" , 6'5" and 6'3".
Good quickness and will play hard defensively. They pressed us most of the night on tues.

Athens starts off the season with three top 8 teams, Vinton, Meigs, and Cheaspeake. FCA who is outside the area but very good. Brutal schedule for Athens
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #1
Meigs isn't placed anywhere near Top 8.

Alexander 47
Vinson County 66 final
... this one was owned by Coach Combs' Vikings from the "git go" ... Alexander made it a ball game throughout but VC seemed in control from opening tip to the final buzzer ... quarter breaks VC 13 AHS 3 end of 1 ... VC 28 AHS 22 at intermission ... VC 47 AHS 34 end of three ... Vinton County 66 Alexander 47 a final ...
... the outcome wasn't really in question imo ... 1 good team/1 outstanding/balanced TEAM ... Alexander IS a solid basketball team - the Spartans get it done on defense ... while offensively AHS has difficulty putting up bunches of points ... I see them having to keep opponents in the 50 point neighborhood to get "W's" - and THIS goal IS IN the cards on most nights for sure as the Spartan D is outstanding ... AHS ran into one of the teams that not only matches the Spartan D with defense of its' own in the Vikings but they also ran into a Vinton County ball club that can score the ball in MANY different ways - Coach Combs has lots of weapons at his disposal ... I have watched VC take on and beat an excellent Washington CH team, destroy Athens in A'town and now put away a solid Alexander team ... each outing VC showed just how well balanced they are offensively, just how many weapons they can score with - vs Washington CH PG Tristan Bartoe was the leading scorer with 31 points - showing just how effective he is getting into the paint and finishing at the rim ... nothing less than outstanding as he also rang up 3 treys along the way ... vs Athens the Bulldogs looked to matchup with VC with their own outstanding PG in Griffin Lutz ... hoping to negate Bartoe getting to the rim with Lutz's length - it worked ! Lutz 22 points/ Bartoe 21 points BUT the Bulldog attention to stopping Bartoe opened the floor for Jordan Albright - Albright singlehandedly beat Athens with 6/6 shooting from behind the three point line in the first half alone! J. Albright finished the night (3 qtrs of work) with 32 points to lead VC to the 83-48 rout of Athens ... with 2 games showing Vinton County with 2 outstanding perimeter players in Bartoe/Albright... in tonights game Alexander's game plan defensively was to take away the perimeter shooting from Albright, take away Bartoe's penetration into the paint/force the ball out of his hands ... force the rest of the Vinton County team to beat them ... TEAM Viking was up to the task ... coming into the game my biggest question about VC was the BIGS ... can they score the ball ? can they be a force down low to offset an opponent shutting down Bartoe & Albright ? ... questions answered - YES ... the inside trio of Chase Ward/Sean Caudill/Bo McIntire put up 25 points (14/1/10 respectively on the night) ... just as impressive is the scoring from the role players Derrick Jones (7 points) / Naylen Yates (11 points) ... an excellent TEAM "W" for Vinton County tonight ... Vinton County 66 Alexander 47 a final ...
... Pfloyd Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats - Alexander ...
Scoring ... Mason Chapman 15, Cory Chapman 9, Jake Weaver 9, Chace Harris 6, Michael Norris 4, Kyle Howard 3, Seth Richardson 1
3 Pointers ... 6/19 ... Mason Chapman 5, Kyle Howard 1
FT's ... 9/13

... Pfloyd Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats - Vinton County ...
Scoring ... Tristan Bartoe 15, Chase Wood 14, Naylen Yates 11, Bo Mcintire 10, Jordan Albright 9, Derrick Jones 7 , Sean Caudill 1
3 Pointers ... 4/12 ... Naylen Yates 3, Jordan Albright 1
FT's ... 15/20
TOs ... 14
... a few Pfloyd IMO's :
* Jordan Albright with only 9 points was impressive ... JA put up 32 points on Tuesday 6/6 from behind the 3 point line, tonight 1/4 ... the impressive part of his game tonight was his patience! Jordan could have forced his game having put up 32 points 3 nights ago - he didn't NOT ONE SHOT was forced ... took what HE was given/worked the ball to the rest of TEAM ... in my mind he gets a game ball ...
* VC had 14 fg's in the paint ... the BIGS /Bartoe/Jones ALL finished in the paint tonight ...
* Tristan Bartoe had his penetration taken away by outstanding Alexander Defense ... held to 1 fg/6 points in the first half ... the 3rd quarter TB forced his presence "on" game by hitting the boards for put-back buckets ... he found a way to get "IN" the game ... finishing with 15 points ...

... the Pfloyd Tour will be at Alexander High School tomorrow night to catch Alexander hosting the Minford Falcons of Coach Shoemaker ... looking forward to being able to make some comparisons between Minford , Alexander obviously but also to the likes of Vinton County, Westfall, Unioto, Athens, Circleville, Chillicothe , Logan etc. (those teams I have had a chance to put an eye test on so far) ... should be a good game in the Alley !!!
