Just a little follow up to Nick Saban testing positive for Covid-19, apparently Athletic Director Greg Byrnes has also tested positive as well.

Nick Saban won't be able to coach remotely on Saturday night against Georgia. He will not have that ability against the No-3 ranked Bulldogs, as NCAA rules prevent a coach from being able to communicate with his staff and players while watching the game from another location. Saban said if you're the head coach, there ought to be a better way to do it, I'm not exactly sure what that might be, but there needs to be a better way. I'm not quite sure why the NCAA doesn't just up and change the rules for this weekend, after all Nick Saban doesn't like it, and that should be enough reason right there.

Ten Big Ten players were named as preseason honorees on Friday, and three of them are from Ohio State. Buckeye right guard Wyatt Davis, quarterback Justin Fields and cornerback Shaun Wade are among the 10 players selected by a media panel as this years Big Ten preseason honorees, the closest thing the Big Ten has to an actual all-conference team, making Ohio State the only team with three selections.

The SEC had threatened fines or even possibly suspensions for teams whose coaches and staff members didn't abide by the conference mask-wearing protocols. Apparently the conference was serious about those threats, as it is being reported that Texas A%M, Tennessee and Ole Miss have each been fined $100,000 for improper face covering procedures during their games on October 10th.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 3:02 pm Last week, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey sent a memo to the leagues head coaches and athletic directors as a reminder about requirements for face masks and face coverings. Sankey followed that up with another memo this week. This time, the commissioner outlined "fines and possible suspensions" for those who fail to comply with the conference protocols. In the memo, Sankey again urged them not to "relax" in their adherence to the protocols because of a few weeks of success. Programs that do not adhere to the conference protocols could see their share of conference revenue reduced by $100,000. The SEC also could impose suspensions.

The Alabama football team will have their head coach when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night. Saban was cleared to return to the field after he tested negative for coronavirus for the third consecutive day. Team Physician Dr.Jimmy Robinson said that Saban was medically cleared to safely return to activity effective immediately after Saban tested negative on Saturday morning.VetteMan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 1:13 pmNick Saban won't be able to coach remotely on Saturday night against Georgia. Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm has tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. The school announced the positive test in a news release and said that Brohm's "presumed positive" result came via an antigen test on Sunday morning. Purdue, like every Big Ten program, tests daily as it embarks on a season with eight games over the next eight weeks. Brohm informed his coaching staff and team of the positive result Sunday afternoon. Brohm is in isolation at his home, and will coach remotely throughout the week, but is unlikely to coach Purdue in it's opener against Iowa at home on Saturday.

Florida head coach Dan Mullen, who last week wanted 90,000 fans packed inside the stadium amid a pandemic, says he has tested positive for Covid-19. Mullen made the announcement saying his initial positive result was confirmed by a second test. The 10th ranked Gators had at least 21 players and coaches test positive earlier this week, an outbreak that prompted the Southeastern Conference to postpone Florida's next two games. With potentially dozens more quarantined because of contact tracing, Florida (2-1) would have had fewer than 50 scholarship players available to face the defending National Champion LSU Tigers (1-2) in the swamp. Two Gator assistant coaches also tested positive for the highly contagious virus.

Former Texas Tech women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings, who was fired after a USA Today published report detailing players claims of physical and emotional abuse, has filed a lawsuit against the school and the athletic director Kirby Hocutt on Tuesday. The lawsuit claims breach of contract, fraud, fraudulent inducement, defamation and sex discrimination. Stollings was fired on August 6th, a day after the scathing report was published. The suit says that the termination could not properly have been for cause, as Texas Techs own internal reviews had found accurately, that Coach Stollings had not taken any actions which were in violation of her employment contract. The lawsuit says the school's decision to fire Stollings was based on discriminatory biases against female coaches. Texas Tech and Mr. Hocutt regularly, and in this instance in particular, penalized female coaches for employing the same demanding and effective coaching techniques that male coaches utilize and utilized without consequence. The school declined to comment on the lawsuit.VetteMan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 6:16 pmTexas Tech has fired assistant women's basketball coach Nikita Lowry Dawkins on Friday morning hours after dismissing head coach Marlene Stollings on Thursday, amid allegations that she mistreated her players. A USA Today investigation published Wed. obtained exit interviews that players had with the school. Players said in some of the interviews that they felt ridiculed and isolated under Stollings, and also accused former strength and conditioning coach Ralph Petrella of berating and sexually harassing them. Stollings recruited seven of the twelve players that left. Marlene was an outstanding basketball player in high school at Pike Eastern, and I think that she is still the all-time leading scorer in girls basketball in the State of Ohio.

The Mayors of 11 Big Ten Cities have written the Big Ten Conference a letter outlining their concerns about potential coronavirus spikes as the conference begins it's football season this weekend. Big Ten games will not be open to the general public in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Mayors also acknowledged in their letter that gatherings and watch parties could increase with football's return. And, as we all know by now, gatherings of multiple people increase the chances of the spread of coronavirus. We know the history of football games within our cities, the letter said. They generate a lot of activity, social gatherings and consumption of alcohol. These activities within our communities have also been associated with an increased spread of Covid-19. We, as cities, continue to respond to issues as they arise, respective of the individual rules put in place within our regions. To help us slow the spread and be prepared for increased activity, we humbly request a few practical measures that the Big Ten Conference can take to ensure we have the tools we need to combat the spread of Covid-19. The Big Ten said in September that it would hold games and practices as long as positivity rates among players and others involved in the football programs had positivity rates below a specific threshold. The Mayors say in their letter that they would like the Conference to also include the positivity rates for their surrounding cities and communities when making the decisions to hold practices and games.

Penn State men's basketball coach Pat Chambers has resigned from his position as head coach. Chambers and the school both announced his resignation on Wednesday. Penn State said that Chambers had resigned following an internal investigation of new allegations of inappropriate conduct. Chambers said he was announcing his departure from Penn State, saying that he was very proud of all the progress the program had accomplished in the past nine years, and that he would be forever grateful to the Penn State community for it's ongoing support. Chambers came under fire earlier this summer after former player Rasir Bolton tweeted explosive allegations accusing Chambers of being racially insensitive and inappropriate. In Bolton's statement, in which he explained why he was leaving Penn State, he revealed that Chambers had used the phrase, "I want to loosen the noose that's around your neck." Chambers later admitted to using the noose metaphor, and expressed remorse for using it in an exchange that took place in 2019. Penn State released a statement, saying his resignation comes after separate allegations of misconduct surfaced. I was just thinking, how long do you think Woody Hayes and Bobby Knight would have kept their job back in the day, if things were the same as they are today ? Lol

Former San Francisco 49ers star Dana Stubblefield was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison on Thursday after being found guilty of raping a woman he had interviewed for a babysitting job. The sentence was reportedly issued after Judge Atthur Bocunegra denied a defense motion for a new trial. In July, Stubblefield was found guilty of rape by force, oral copulation by force, and false imprisonment by a jury that also determined he used a gun in the act. He was found not guilty on a charge of rape of a person incapable of giving consent. Stubblefield's accuser, identified as Jane Doe, alleged that she went to his home to interview for a babysitting job on April 9th, 2015. She claimed that Stubblefield texted her after she left the initial interview that he would like to pay her for her trip. When she returned, she said he gave her $80, then locked the door, carried her to a first floor bedroom and assauited her. Police have reportedly obtained texts backing that account.

I think that there is no doubt that the Washington Football Team is eventually going to trade former Buckeye QB Dwayne Haskins probably before the trade deadline. It's probably the best thing for both sides considering how far Haskins has fallen out of favor since he was benched. Well the latest report is that the team has fined Haskins $4,833 after violating Covid-19 protocol. Haskins reportedly made a reservation for a family friend at the team hotel, which is against Washington Football Team policy. It was also reported that the maximum fine could have been $14,650. The family friend supposedly checked into the hotel, but did not come into contact with Haskins. I'm not really sure whether or not Haskins will ever be a starting QB, and have a successful career in the NFL. There have been plenty of QB's that have had great college career's, and for a lot of different reasons their game just doesn't guarantee success in the NFL. He may still have a good chance someday, but the best thing that could happen to him at this point, would be to be traded to a team with a veteran QB, and to be able to sit behind and learn as much as possible.

University of Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz has tested positive for Covid-19 just after a record breaking debut start. It looked like the Badgers may have finally found themselves an elite QB, especially after their starting QB Jack Coan was injured. The news came just two days after his record breaking debut start against Illinois, where he completed 20 of 21 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns. Mertz's positive test was from the Big Ten's daily antigen testing, and does not necessarily rule him out yet. Mertz will now have to take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test to confirm the first result. If the PCR test comes back positive, Mertz will then be sidelined for 21 days before he can return to action, according to the Big Ten's rules. This would cause him to miss Wisconsin's games against Nebraska, Purdue and Michigan.

A Michigan fan who made violent threats toward Ohio State and members of it's football program was sentenced by a federal judge on Tuesday. Daniel Rippy, 29, was given a 12 month and 1-day prison sentence for his threats toward the school during Michigan and Ohio State's annual rivalry game in 2018. Michigan State QB Rocky Lombardi's four letter swear word slip-up during his postgame interview was maybe kind of understandable. How did a new starting QB and a rookie wide receiver carve apart Michigan's secondary ? How did the Wolverines, a 21 1/2 point favorite ( at the lowest ) at Michigan Stadium, look so disinterested at the start and so unconcerned late, down four points as time flowed off the clock ? How did Mel Tucker outthink, outsheme and outcoach Jim Harbaugh in his own house to become just the second Michigan State coach in history, and the first since Nick Saban 25 years ago this week, to beat the University of Michigan in his first try ? Most of all, how the ---- did the Spartans, just a week after losing to Rutgers, while giving the ball away seven times, dominate No-14 Michigan from start to finish, without a turnover, in a 27-24 shocker and one of the biggest upsets in the history of the rivalry ? Mel Tucker, the Ex Ohio State assistant coach, put on a clinic, we'll see if Jim Harbaugh paid attention.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has been released by the Chicago Bears. The 35-year-old receiver played in six games this season for the Bears after signing a one-year contract this offseason. He played in 43% of the snaps in the first game of the season, but then only had 3 catches for 40 yards the rest of the games. I doubt the Browns will do it, but with Beckham being out the rest of the season, maybe they would bring him in for a look.

He said that he was relatively symptom free. He said that when he tested positive, that was the reason that FOX did not do the Big Noon Kickoff Show last week. He also said that the virus is "the real deal."
