Not so sure he will be a man amongst boys at The Ohio State. There will be a lot of players there that are just as big fast and strong and many that will be bigger faster and strongerSWHITE2002 wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 1:35 pm Carrico is a legit D1 player. Only team in this region capable of competing with them is Ridgewood and that's because they are skilled enough and have an offense capable of attacking other areas of the field away from him.

He was talking about being a man among boys at the high school level and that he is. He will only get bigger and stronger at Ohio State with their weight program.fbnut wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2020 11:04 amNot so sure he will be a man amongst boys at The Ohio State. Johnnies not the same team of the last few years. It would not be close even if Ironton had a few unhealthy players.

Carrico is as strong as most players at the college level now, excluding maybe linemen. He will gain probably 20 to 25 lbs in college and will get bigger and stronger but I doubt faster.I’d say he’s one of the strongest kids his size in the country in high school.

Reid Carrico and Ironton on a totally different level than any other team in this area.

Re: RD 3: Johnstown Monroe (6-2) @ Ironton (7-0)
Early playcalling was questionable. Why was Ironton so "cutesy" in the first quarter ? It was clear, from playcalling later on, that they would've have cruised to victory by running DIRECTLY at JM. They would have put the game away earlier.
*Note: I'm a huge fan of the the coaching - as a alum of IHS - at IHS. But, I didn't understand the passive nature of their early playcalling.

They probably knew they could do that so why not work on some other stuff.LockHerUp wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:20 pm Early playcalling was questionable. Re: RD 3: Johnstown Monroe (6-2) @ Ironton (7-0)
I get that. I'm hoping that - or some other reason - was the reason for that. But, they could have opened this game open wide open earlier if they'd have run it DIRECTLY at J-M earlier.
Like I said, I'm a big fan of their coaches & coaching. But, this game could've been been over in the 1st quarter.

If you're running stuff just to run it, and you have no intention of running it in a close game it's a waste
Ironton did the same thing in the Semifinals last year then got to Kirtland and froze up. No misdirection. Straight leads and wedges. You will not beat Kirtland unless you keep them somewhat hones with misdirection

1. Confident in team that coach wants to try variations of plays as quality of opponents increases & see it unfold.
2. Each unexpected play call to not run it down the throat repetitively also keeps the Ironton players ready to react differently as it unfolds challenging mental and muscle memory that may be leaning to a touch of complacency.
3. Ironton has a loaded talent pool of many offensive weapons spread among 8-10 players.
The availability of video study on Ironton is readily available & 1&2 are used to muddy the visuals of the peepers.
Just my Tiger Thoughts from afar.
