After being sidelined with Covid-19, head coach Nick Saban said he fully expects to return to the field with No-1 Alabama on Saturday for their matchup with LSU. Saban, who missed the Crimson Tide's 42-13 win against No-22 Auburn on Saturday after contracting the virus, insisted on Monday that he's healthy and good to go.VetteMan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:50 pmAlabama head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for Covid-19 again. Alabama said Wednesday that Saban was experiencing mild symtoms. Saban had tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the teams game against Georgia back in October, but was asymptomatic and tested negative in follow-up tests. That positive test was then deemed to be a false positive. Saban will be unavailable to coach against Auburn on Saturday after the positive test.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 5:45 pmThe Alabama football team will have their head coach when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night. Nick Saban won't be able to coach remotely on Saturday night against Georgia. He will not have that ability against the No-3 ranked Bulldogs, as NCAA rules prevent a coach from being able to communicate with his staff and players while watching the game from another location. Saban said if you're the head coach, there ought to be a better way to do it, I'm not exactly sure what that might be, but there needs to be a better way. I'm not quite sure why the NCAA doesn't just up and change the rules for this weekend, after all Nick Saban doesn't like it, and that should be enough reason right there.

Justin Fields is not only one of the best quarterbacks, but is also one of the best players in college football. Those truths were recognized once again on Monday, when Fields was named a semifinalist for both the Maxwell Award, which honors the best player in college football, and the Davey O'Brien Award, which honors the nations best QB. Fields was already a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award and a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award last year, and he's been even better this year, even though he hasn't had as many games to rack up statistics. Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade was also named Monday as one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which honors college football's best defensive back. While Wade hasn't been quite the shutdown cornerback that he was expected to be in his move to the outside for the Buckeyes this season, he has come up with a pair of clutch interceptions in the past two games, including a pick-six against Indiana, and is one of Ohio State's top defensive leaders as a team captain. Wade was also named one of 24 semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which honors a top defensive player for both his performance on the field and character off the field. Fields and Wade join linebacker Pete Werner, who was named last week as a Butkus Award semifinalist, as semifinalists for National Awards recognizing on-field play. Punter Drue Chrisman has also been named a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, which honors college football's top scholar athlete.

Ohio State has had four previous winners of the Outland Trophy: Jim Parker (1956), Jim Stillwagon (1970), John Hicks (1973), and Orlando Pace (1996). Davis was a first team All-American guard in 2019, and has continued to be a leader for Ohio State's offensive line this season as the Buckeyes offense has been one of the best in the country once again, ranking fourth nationally in points scored per game (46.6) and sixth in yards gained per game (532.4).

Ohio State Wide Receiver coach Brian Hartline keeps swinging for the fences and keep's knocking it out of the park. Tonight, Five-Star prospect Emeka Egbuka, the nation's No-1 ranked wide receiver and the No-9 overall player in the 2021 Class, has committed to Ohio State. Egbuka, a senior at Steilacoom High School, (State of Washington) has chosen Ohio State over the other two schools in his final three, Washington and Oklahoma, with the Sooners being the Buckeye's biggest challenger in this recruitment. Egbuka, at one point was listed as the Top-ranked athlete in America because if he wanted to put all his eggs into the defensive back basket, he could probably be a terrific cornerback at the next level. The dynamic wide receiver gives the Buckeyes not only an explosive player, but also gives them probably what will be the best wide receiver haul in the nation for a second straight year.VetteMan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:44 pm Since Brian Hartline became Ohio State's wide receiver coach in 2018, he's rapidly established himself as one of the best wide receiver coaches in college football, and he's officially being recognized for it now. Ohio State wide receiver coach Brian Hartline has been named one of the 15-semifinalists for the Broyles Award. Hartline is the only one of the 15-semifinalists who is not an offensive or defensive coordinator. Even though he has not risen to the coordinator ranks yet, as he's still in just his third year as a full-time assistant coach, he has already established himself as arguably one of college football's best wide receiver coaches, both on the field and on the recruiting trail.VetteMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 8:59 pmOhio State Wide Receiver coach Brian Hartline keeps swinging for the fences and keep's knocking it out of the park. Ohio State Defensive Tackle Haskell Garrett was only able to garner Third-Team Honors by the Big Ten Coaches on Wednesday of this past week, today Garrett was named a First-Team All-American by Pro-Football Focus. Garrett didnt make any of the Media's All-Conference teams, even though he has emerged as one of the most dominant interior linemen in the country. This season Garrett has 17 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a pick-six to go along with the relentless pressure he has put on opposing quarterbacks this season in addition to his run-stopping ability. With what he went through prior to the start of the season, it's been a wild ride and an unbelievable season for Garrett. At least somebody is giving him the recognition that he deserves.VetteMan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 2:59 pm Shaun Wade and Pete Werner have earned First-Team All-Big Ten Defensive Player selections while five other Ohio State defensive players have earned second and third team All-Big Ten honors.
