Since several people like to use the bowl games as a means to compare conferences, here is a breakdown on how each conference competed against other conferences. I personally do not place much stock in bowl games as a way to determine the best conference.

ACC – (4-4) Currently
1-1 vs. Big East
0-1 vs. PAC 10
?0-0 vs. WAC ……… Boston College vs. Nevada (Yet to Play)
0-1 vs. Independents
2-0 vs. SEC.......ACC is apparently better than the SEC :122248
0-1 vs. Mountain West
1-0 vs. CONF USA

BIG 12 – (3-5)
0-1 vs. SEC
1-0 vs. PAC 10
1-2 vs. BIG 10
1-1 vs. Big East
0-1 vs. PC 10

BIG EAST – (4-2)

BIG 10 – (3-5)
0-1 vs. Mountain West
1-3 vs. SEC
2-1 vs. BIG 12

CONFERENCE USA – (2-4)
1-0 vs. SEC......CONF USA is apparently better than the SEC :122248
1-0 vs. WAC
0-1 vs. ACC
0-1 vs. Big East
0-1 vs. Independents
0-1 vs. Mountain West

INDEPENDENTS – (2-1)
0-1 vs. Mountain West
1-0 vs. CONF USA
1-0 vs. ACC

MAC – (2-2)
1-2 vs. Sun Belt
1-0 vs. WAC

MOUNTAIN WEST – (4-1)
1-0 vs. Big 10
0-1 vs. WAC
1-0 vs. Independents
1-0 vs. CONF USA
1-0 vs. ACC

PAC 10 - (2-1) Currently
1-0 vs. ACC
1-1 vs. Big 12
0-0 vs. SEC……Oregon vs. Auburn (National Championship Game)

SEC – (4-5) Currently
3-1 vs. Big 10
1-0 vs. Big 12
0-0 vs. PAC 10……Auburn vs. Oregon (National Championship Game)
0-2 vs. ACC

This means nothing to me and never will really. The SEC sent 10 teams to a bowl game. 10 out of 12. Of course they arent going to win.

As GAHS says above, it is hard to win a game when your 8th best is going against someone else's 4th best.

I totally agree with you, but every year we have people comparing the conferences based off of their bowl performances. To be honest, I actually view several of these bowl games as NFL auditions and basically meaningless for the schools. The BCS bowl games are more relevant to me and I do like to compare the talent levels between the schools involved, but that is not an accurate measuring stick either.

The BCS games are the best indicators, I guess, yeah.

However, I feel like teams go into those differently as well. For example, Michigan in 06, Bama in 08, and Texas in 08. Those teams did not care about being in the game they were in because they felt like they deserved to be in the National Championship game. I would assume their preparation was terrible because the mentality of the players and coaches was of disappointment.

I just find it funny that if the Big 10 doesn't too well, the conference is weak. Yet when other conferences have similar or worse bowl records....you rarely hear about them and not even close to the level of criticism that the Big 10 routinely is subjected to.

need to get some of these southern cry babies to come up North to Play---also the West Coast needs to come up North

If a Florida team can play in Florida why couldn't Michigan State played their game at Michigan's stadium?

Notre Dame could have played in Ohio States stadium

Let the cold weather fans stay near home

The people who do the pot stirring over the pros and cons of a conference work for ESPN.

ESPN used to be a good sports information source. Now they push buttons and run with the soap opera and TMZ mentality.

Mark May is told what buttons to push, and he does a good job doing what he's told. Same goes for Colin Cowturd!

Certain markets have to be stroked and loved to get response from the, others need to be bashed to get the veiwers to call/text/email/tweet.

All that matters to ESPN is that those viewers are watching and participating.
If as a whole, Buckeye Nation decided to stop responding to May unless he showed more love, then you would see him show more love.

As long as my team can beat the others, I don't care what the rest of the conference does.

Bamako is coming once again to Happy Valley next year. some of you are old enough to remember when Bama and Penn State played a great home and home series in the 80's. bam a has also had home and home with Missiouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Boston College, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame and Washinton to name a few over the years. Don't lump all the southern teams into the same pile. it would be great to see the Big 10 and SEC play a home and home series much like they do in basketball.

It would be nicer to see Oregon or Auburn's cute offenses playing in a playoff in Madison or Columbus in late December/ early January.

Alabama would be just fine up north, because they are tough and physical. They grind it out.

Perhaps someone in Happy Valley, Columbus, Madison or AA could start a bowl game and work a deal with B10/SEC team. Hell, The Twin Cities would have been a great site for a bowl game this year. It could be called the... Huntington Bank Southern Team Come North Because It's Not Fair We Come South To Your Bowl Games Every Year.

I wonder how many players/fans want to make that trip in January? I know where I'd rather be.

Raider that's right. It's all about the money.Money from up north going south.Half empty stadiums, and you said it in your own words. The bowl games mean nothing. It's just a vacation for people to get out of the cold.Due away with conference championship games, play your conference schedule. If the college season starts,(example) saturday September 3.You have 13 weeks to play your 12 games and one week off and then the playoffs start. You'll be done by New YEARS Day.16 teams in the playoffs, the rest of the teams in vacation bowls. As long as the soap opera ESPN gets their ratings, that's all that matters.I SEE fOX got the PAC 12 and Big TEN champ games. You won't hear a kind word about those conferences next year.ESPN has way to much influence on game times, polls, and BullCrapStandings.ESPN=sec network.I can rant and rave on here.I don't on ESPN ,they don't care if it's a complimate or a slam,as long as they can show their sponsors the email hits they have.

Sugar Bowl got the Buckeye bump.

ESPN had their largest single market share EVER from the Sugar Bowl this year. Columbus destroyed every other market that has ever watched their home team in an ESPN broadcast!

I'm just saying if you don't like ESPN and their control over college football, watch the other networks. I don't like what has happened to the bowl season either... BCS games starting at 8:30 or later on a week night, the Championship game not being played until the 10th of January... but yeah, I will more than likely continue to watch them.
