Re: 11/07 week11 ironton 6-4 @ burg 10-0
the burg needs to worry about west 1st. just like the tigers have to concentrate on the pointers.

99 had some players and depth. This team struggles. Not bad defensively but offense is not as strong with Palladino out.

The 99 team had like what 4 Division 1 players on it, plus a QB that set all kinds of JUCO passing records. Plus they had Coach Lutz. This team isn't no where near that.

I follow Ironton always have, but a rematch between thes
e two teams? first, Ironton don't belong in the playoffs, and second they couldn't beat burg if they could borrow a few players from one of the other teams in the ovc. JMO.

I doubt Ironton wants this matchup. They are missing some key players and I think the Burg is getting better each week.

I just hope this thread makes it to 10 pages by next Friday. What's the Over/Under on that?

Burg will slap ironton around AGAIN and ironton fans will be back next year in the thousands for a week or then only the true fans will be around

If not Ironton it will most likely be Coshocton. Ironton has good odds of getting in. But they have to depend on a few others to help them out. This will be billed as a showdown of SEO titans.

One would think each team has improved since week 1. As a neutral observer I think it will be interesting to see how each team plays in a week 11 match-up.

cannon you know I ain't comparing the 2 teams. they are light years apart.i am however saying anyone can get hot week 11.Tigercannon71 wrote:The 99 team had like what 4 Division 1 players on it, plus a QB that set all kinds of JUCO passing records. you don't keep having to try to prove me wrong. I know this ain't the 99 team. nor is it a lutz team. but stranger things have happened.

Re: 11/07 week11 ironton 6-4 @ burg 10-0
I'm not trying go prove you wrong, even wobycat, pointed out this team is nothing like the 99 team. That 99 team was a special team. This teams only chance to get by week 11 who ever they play is if everyone was healthy and the other team has a serious outbreak of flu or MRSA and the game has to be forfeited to Ironton. Offensively we have no game breakers. We can pound the ball at you, but that's about it. No ones breaking big yardage runs for TDs which is what you need. Defensively we arent bad, but we give up big plays which hurts us, and Special Teams are atrocious. None of those factors lead us to a week 11 win or even getting hot. We couldn't even get like warm if the game was played in 100 degree heat.

LET'S BE REAL HERE IN NO WAY WAS I COMPARING THIS TO THE 99 TEAM. BUT IF THEY LOOSEN THE REIGNS OFFENSIVELY , IT COULD BE INTERESTING. THAT'S ALL I WAS SAYING.I SEE NO REASON TO BELITTLE ANYBODY INVOLVED IN THE TEAM/STAFF. BUT CHANGES HAVE TO BE MADE SOMEWHERE.

we don't have to have a Hershel walker or a peyton manning. which we don't. but we needn't run when 11 are in the box. we have to have an intermediate passing game. a good option , zone read and sustained line blocking. basically a more diverse offense. you pull that together with a stout defense. and no looney 15 yarders that kill you. then this could get interesting.

Re: 11/07 week11 ironton 6-4 @ burg 10-0
I'm not belittling anybody all I said was the truth. Our offense is not very good, our defense is decent, but gives up big plays, and our special teams are horrible. None of that gives you a chance to win week 11 vs Burg. That's the sad facts. As Coach Folegsong used to tell us every day, "Boys, you either get better or you get worse you never stay the same." Burg has gotten better and we have gotten worse.YOU'RE TIGER BAIT wrote:LET'S BE REAL HERE IN NO WAY WAS I COMPARING THIS TO THE 99 TEAM.
