Read much?? I said basketball should've never started on time and waited and tried starting up in February. Hopefully each team could get 10-14 games in and have their tourney. If they couldn't do it then so be it, but with current numbers basketball had no business starting up before January at the earliest. Next time read a little before you hop on your soap box and make yourself look foolish.Snowflake wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 1:21 pmOh gosh by all means extend the season so all you yahoos who think the virus is a hoax can get your basketball fix for a few more months. How about not spreading the District Basketball Tournament out over 3 weeks?

Re: Extended Season??
Thinking that a lot of schools will be fine just playing 15-16 games (double round-robin in league + a game or two extra.) Playing the full 22 with JV+V across both boys and girls basketball is just going to add to expenditures that are harder to financially break-even against a shortfall in ticket revenue.

Re: Extended Season??
This is was a part of today's Administrator Update from the OHSAA
Winter Sports General Update
As we have said previously, the decision for schools to move forward with their winter sports seasons is strictly a local decision.
Schools or school districts may certainly choose not to participate in a contest or to pause their season(s) for a period and should do
what is in their best interest. While understanding that our focus is on the health, safety, and well-being of our student-athletes and
all participants in the interscholastic environment, at this point we have no plans to change the dates for our upcoming winter
tournaments. However, we will continue to study the data on COVID-19 and continue in discussions with the Governor’s Office to
determine if we need to make any changes. If we do, we believe we have flexibility that would allow us to look at implementing
other models for our winter and/or spring seasons and tournaments.
We also want to reemphasize that administrators should do all that you can to keep crowds to a minimum, even going below the
Ohio Health Director’s Sports Order that limits spectators to the lesser of 15 percent permanent, fixed seats or 300. Our
recommendation is that you limit your crowds to parents and immediate family members.

Leave the spring season alone. Dewine already screwed them out of a season once.

Re: Extended Season??
This winter and spring will be worst than last winter and spring and you seen what happened. School districts will and should do right thing and help stop the spread of this virus with over 300,000 deaths. Still people refuse to obey guidelines and now with hospitals overflowing and deaths to increase into January thru summer people still want to risk the health of loved ones. Wear a mask. Social distance. Wash hands. Stay six feet apart. Avoid groups not in your family How much easier is it to understand. Safety of all people should be considered here. Does people dying really not bother people and want to help stop this People suffering side effects we can stop this but now a year has passed and just look what’s happening everywhere now. Does a game mean more than anything else
Re: Extended Season??
Fact of the matter is, there have been no outbreaks in Ohio traced back to HS sporting events. The schools are doing a very good job mitigating the risks. The structure of school and school sports are safer for these kids than not having them and being left to do as they please. The vast majority of people are following the guidelines as best they can!Prime Time wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 7:42 am This winter and spring will be worst than last winter and spring and you seen what happened. How do you figure? Flu is down 65% from last year. They estimate that more than 40 million have actually contracted the Covid 19 Virus. So that makes the Death percentage even lower! Also, people die, its a tragic thing, but people will always continue to die. For one reason or another. Cancer continues to kill millions of people but for some reason we have accepted that! For you to tell people that this or that means more then other deaths, than you are the main problem! People choose to live their lives and understand there are risks and consequences to everyday living. Shutting peoples lives down is not the answer. Scolding people on how they should feel is not the Answer!!! Kids are a low risk and the SCIENCE backs that up! You insisted there wouldn't be a football season. Wrong. The school districts are doing right by the kids and at least attempting to give them a normal life.

Re: Extended Season??
Not to mention this is a seasonal virus just like the flu so regardless of any measures people take you’re still gonna see spikes in cases. Look at some of the areas who have the more stringent restrictions and lockdown measures where people are following all the rules. They’re still experiencing extreme increases in cases because of the season. Sorry everyone there is nothing h we can do about it. No matter who is wearing masks or washing hands or social distancing. This virus will run its course no matter what we do.baseball16 wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:38 amHow do you figure? Oh you're welcome. I like "feeding" you trolls. A lot of times you are the only few on here to banter with. And it's great that you admit to being one. That's the first step to recovery if you're interested in that sort of thing. Oh heck now see there, you got me to respond again.

Snowflake I guess no one can express what’s right thing to do on here it’s only tunnel vision on playing games and getting students faculty bus drivers and family’s together for a couple hours and then risk the chance to spread virus to anyone in there orbit everyone has there opinion but name calling just shows that we are dealing with the attitudes of we’re going to do what we want that’s alright. I hope no ones family’s come down with a bad case of this fatal virus come the middle of January I hope darkest days of over run hospitals and death toll isn’t rampant president Biden has said he will shut the nation down if it really explodes after he gets in January 20. Let’s hope not for the sake of all Snowflake I here you and hunker down the next 4-12 weeks merry Christmas and a safe New Years. Get your Vaccine!
