Jackson vs Vinton County...Sectional Final 2/25

Post by Ironman92 »

Didn’t get to play during the season but these two will square up Thursday. Jackson comes in at 15-3. Vinton County I think is 13-6.

Jackson looking for their 2nd sectional championship in 3 years. Vinton County would love nothing better than beating the Ironmen to keep that from happening.

Game will be at 7:00. I think livestream on JHS Media on YouTube.

Jackson the favorite, for sure. VC isn't at the same level they've been in recent years. That said, if they get hot from 3, watch out. I believe Athens dodged a bullet the other night in McArthur. 6-28 from 3 for the Vikings isn't typical on their home floor. I think Jackson is 12-14 points better.

I’ll spot ya those extra 2...gonna take more than just 8 3pnters to beat Jackson.....in addition To those 8 3s the Ironmen are gonna have to play bad and VC lights out....no bash on VC....good program. Sure have been accustomed to being in these types of games the last 10/15yrs more then Jackson.....I like Jackson’s Juniors better than VCs is all I’m saying.....should be fun tonight.......

I heart wishes Vc wins--but my mind has to go with Jackson--BIg---we live and die by the three for the last 5 or 6 years( even when we had some big boys) dont see this turning out in VC favor. Hope for the best.....

Our defense is very intense and a ton of on the ball pressure when it gets fed into the post...the perimeter defenders need to get back to avoid leaving the open 3’s. We typically adjust very well but I believe our focus needs to be on the perimeter and mid range and not post play....but yet must find a way to box out.

One thing I see is weak side rebounding. We often are too close under the basket when ball is shot from perimeter on opposite side. The long shot isn’t going to get rebounded that close to the basket...but we have improved there.

I know one thing.....Coach Morrow and staff will have all the info the kids need to win, but the players have to do it!

Combs will have VC ready, he always does.

I would like to see a better 1st quarter but I just want a win.

End 1

Vinton County 14
Jackson 12

Vinton County flat out out played Jackson...played harder and smarter.

Half

Vinton County 23
Jackson 21

VC 5 3’s. Damron has 4....if we don’t contain the perimeter between, especially on Damron, we’ll lose.

Very few possessions. VC maybe 5/8 on 3’s

Same on has had 4 open shots, gotta focus better on him

Braxton Hammond doing well for Jackson

I think 1 ref has made every call. Don’t know them.
