Has anyone checked out just tuition for in-state students lately, what a joke and it's quickly getting worse. (Let alone room & board, lab fees and books). The professors, adjuncts and chairs are the ones that should be making big dollars in academia but I keep forgetting that most of these DI athletes don't really come for an education anyway. Oh, well I'm done venting now.

Oh so true......

But I wouldnt pay $250 to go watch tOSU vs UM in a math competition!

First of I'm not a fan of Tress or OSU so what happens with the NCAA is no concern of mine. What is a concern is that former members of the team are berated for condemning an act that could only be labeled unethical and immoral at best. Integrity can not be taken only given.

Herbie will always get berated. He's nearing Benidict Arnold status. He deserves everything he gets!

All this proves is that Tress has a future in politics. I hope he stays with the BUCKEYES!!!!!

Bret Farve kept it in the media himself, OSU is not begging ESPN for coverage. Everytime a move is made in this game, it gets top billing because of who it involves, but the same moves keep being made and we have heard nothing new for months.

I hear you though, as I'm sick of hearing about it, but it's not going away, and we won't hear anything new until at least mid-August!

ESPN makes sports news, they don't report it. They are more of TMZ than of CSPAN!

Weary is the head that wears the crown. If this had happened at Indiana, it would already be lining the bottom of the birdcage.

If he did lie to the NCAA, Tressel needs to man up, admit what he did, then resign as coach. If he truly did nothing wrong, then fight for all he's worth.

As for Herbstriet, Smith, et al, just because they are former Buckeyes doesn't mean they have to blindly follow. They, as former players, are more affected than we, the fans.

Because Herbie has an opinion you don't agree with, you think he is a Benidict Arnold? I would guess the Herbstreit family has done more for Ohio State than any of us. Players like Spielman and Herbstreit, who did things the right way while they were at Ohio State have a right to be ticked at Tress and the tat five for giving their university a black-eye.

^^ Agreed!! Spielman especially has been upset by the whole ordeal even before the news of Tress came about. The idea of these guys trading something they worked so hard to get, to Chris, has to seem unthinkable. Nobody embodies the Buckeye tradition and spirit any more highly than Spielman!

Herbie is a much better color commentator than he ever was a QB so I guess, even though he was a Buckeye, his true claim to fame is his ESPN career. Spielman earned the right to be cynical of anyhting regarding tOSU and nobody should ever question his true colors. Herbie was just the best of the worst during his career.

With all the media hype one would think that ALL NCAA tats are funded by the OSU "tat five" and our incident is exclusive to Cols and tOSU football team.

My disdain for Herbie goes back way further than the tattoo issue. You guys act like I see no fault in the issue, that is far from correct.

Herbie is a blow hard, that has said nothing good about his Alma mater for a very long time. He credits it toward trying not to appear biased, but that ship sailed long ago, and he's hiding behind an excuse!

Is Mark May negative toward Pitt, No.
Is Corso negative toward FSU?
When was the last time Holtz didnt kiss ND's butt!

Herbie is a tool, who uses his position to run down his school! He has given a lot of money to OSU, but when your job is speaking about college football, words speak louder than actions!

Spielman on the other hand can do no wrong in my opinion.

When the NCAA came in in December, they were given the full list of transactions that the Dispatch reported on. They agreed with OSU and deemed that most transactions did not incur violations. The dealings with Mr. Rife has been fully investigated, allegations passed down, punishment inacted, appealed, and the case has been closed.

These "new" things reported on today by the Dispatch, are not new to any party involved.

Here is a post off of the ESPN website that I totally agree with
AJ Green sold one jersey. ONE. And got a four-game suspension.

These punks sold multiple items on multiple occasions AND received cash, cars, and Lord knows what else.

Then their coach tried to cover it up, showing what a weasel he is.

Don't even BEGIN to compare the two. They're completely different.
With this being said how did A.J. Green get a four game susp. for one jersey but the players from tosu did what they did and only got one extra game than Green.

You pose a good question, I can't answer!

The NCAA looked at the full report, decided much of it didn't involve violations, and set punishment based on what they deemed violations. The value the 5 received was less than or slightly higher than the jersey sale for Green, and Green sold his jersey to a man the NCAA considers as an agent.

I don't know why they determined that the other items sold, and other benefits received didn't qualify as violations. But they can't punish you for something that simply looks bad, it actually has to be bad!

If Ohio State has to forfeit the 2010 season, not only would that take away a win over Michigan, it would also take away the win over Arkansas, meaning Ohio State would have a loosing streak vs. the Wolverines AND Ohio State would still be winless against the SEC in bowl games.

It wouldn't give either opponent a victory. The game just "wouldn't have been played".
