That's what will happen, Michigan won't have a win from 2010, and Arkansas won't have a win in the sugar bowl.
But, our streak of Big 10 titles will be over, we'll just have to start it again!!!

I liked O'Brien more than Tress but he got fired for trying to legitimately help an athlete albeit monetarily of course which is against regulations but he was trying to help the kid. Tress flat out lied about his knowledge of the events that took place over a long period of time and if the truth be known, he probably knows how some of his player's drive Beamers, Benz's and Escalades and it ain't because mom and dad bought them, that's for sure.gahs4ever wrote:Those wins would just disappear like the 1999 Final Four basketball banner at the Schott did

Trying to help a foreign athlete with money (O'Brien)
Trying to keep two young men out of federal prison (Tressel)
I can see where ones not to like!

Whatever is going to happen needs to happen soon. Other schools will be whispering to commitments that OSU will get penalized hard, while schools will tell prospects that Tressel won't be there in the future and their guy will.

We aren't going to get an answer from the NCAA until at least August. That's when OSU and those involved head to Indy to state their case and face the infractions board. That is only the hearing though, and there have been whispers that a final sanctions ruling may not even come until after this season.
Jim Calhoun was found guilty of a 10-1a violation as well, he was allowed to coach all year, his team allowed to play in the Big East championship and NCAA tourney, his team won the national title, and his ultimate punishment is to sit out 3 meaningless games NEXT year.
The punishment OSU has self imposed already dwarfs the standards of punishment set forth by the NCAA for similar infractions.

Anytime OSU moves it's on the headlines of ESPNs college page for days, yet BOISE State's athletic department just got hit with Lack of Institutional Control, and it's buried in the other news section.

Oh is that what he was doing?seofan_via_dublin wrote: Trying to keep two young men out of federal prison (Tressel)
Yes, ESPN is obviously out to take down OSU. Because the Boise State women's tennis program is clearly just as newsworthy as one of the top five football and overall athletic programs in the country.seofan_via_dublin wrote:Anytime OSU moves it's on the headlines of ESPNs college page for days, yet BOISE State's athletic department just got hit with Lack of Institutional Control, and it's buried in the other news section.

"LIAR, LIAR, VEST ON FIRE"
That's actually pretty good, haha. I think there needs to be more humor with this situation than all of this "holier than thou" BS that is going on in the media, the boards, and with the OSU haters.

I love the Buckeyes, but how was lying to the NCAA about trading team awards for tats keeping his players out of federal prison? I could see lying to keep them eligible would help win a NC but for what they done I don't see how prison time would have even been in the picture.
Re: Columbus Dispatch- 4/25/11 More Tressell reading
JT has made his mark with the OSU faithful not only by winning but moreso because of his reputation and the way he has ran the program. His reputation has earned him immunity at times in regards to his coaching downfalls and shortcomings and with the reputation now being tarnished, those exemptions no longer exist. I still think he is far more reputable than many other head figures in the world of college athletics but he no longer has the support that will allow people to overlook flaws in his gameplanning and style of coaching. I hate to see him be forced out but if the university is willing to allow him to continue to coach I would be willing to bet that someone higher than he knew of the problem as well and are allowing him to be their fall guy.
During his tenure at tOSU he has shown loyalty that at times have hurt the team development not only with his asst coaches but even veteran players getting more pt than underclassmen but in todays world loyalty is rare making one of his strikes against him also a plus. With that said, if the line play doesn't shine this year (and we all know it won't) then Bollman should be packing his things quickly and hopefully the university will take the initiative to make changes rather than waiting for JT's approval. Way too many highly recruited kids at all positions to have such slow development or none at all. That is a coaching issue when the problem is lack of development or kids not reaching their potential on such a wide scale and across the board. Player development should be the norm not a rare occurance!
The prison time thing is common sense when there was an ongoing investigation and who knows if that is an excuse or was actually his reasoning but it does make total sense and to be in the middle of a federal investigation is far worse for the university than a NCAA investigation, anyone not seeing that thinks that sports are grander than life's realities.
