Congrats to Marietta on winning the national championship and to Aaron Hopper of Wheelersburg for making all-tourney. If you really want to watch very, very good college baseball, make arrangements to watch Marietta play next year. They play the game the way it was meant to be played.

The Portsmouth Daily Times hasn't mentioned the first word about this and Burg grad Aaron Hopper was key in them getting the win and their successful season. They're too worried about Shaq's Twitter account and Joe Montana's sons DUI than a local boy winning a National Title. Quite possibly the first Scioto county native to do so. They are a pathetic rag!!!

Aaron Hopper was fun to watch along with the entire team. You're right about the daily times. Years ago, when I lived in Waverly, I always read the Chillicothe paper... Can't wait to see Aaron and the team next year....

Marietta, in my opinion, would beat any college baseball program in Ohio in a seven game series, regardless of division.

We appreciate the all nice comments about Aaron. He has worked extremely hard and went to marietta for the quality academics and a chance to win a national championship ring. He is on his way to the first one and was able to obtain the second one last week.

He had an outstanding season as did many of the 2011 etta express. He was a small part of their success as the heavy weight was the burden of their outstanding pitching staff. As it was discussed many many times throughout the season. Pitching does win championships and it was again evident in this years team. Offensively, someone was always stepping up throughout the lineup. 1-9 this team was and still is solid.

Hopefully the PDT does make some mention of Marietta's record 5th national title. Since 1975 every senior class at Marietta has had a chance to experience a trip to the national championships. Both are a feat for sure. And no team has ever repeated as national champion. Marietta sure should have a shot again next season as well.

Well, what do you know???? The PDT finally ran a story about Marietta winning the National Championship in baseball in D-3. I guess maybe the email I sent them telling them how pathetic they were for not covering the story of a local athlete winning a National Championship must have got to them.

I gave them a couple of weeks to run the story on their own and then I sent them an email to tell them how pathetic it was not to have covered the story. It then took over another week for the story to be put in the paper.
