D3 Sweet 16: Fort Frye (21-2) vs Fairland (20-3)
This is going to be a dandy. Cadets won first matchup 54-53
Re: D3 Sweet 16: Fort Frye (21-2) vs Fairland (20-3)
I remember the regular season game and was shocked to see Fairland lose.
Fort Frye is a very good team..... but I just can’t pick against these kids from Fairland. Talented kids mixed with high basketball IQ and good coaching.... They got robbed of their Elite 8 game last year due to COVID. This is their payback.

Tusky Valley scored 87 vs Morgan. Fort lead 41-9 after 3 tonight vs Tusky Valley. Cadets D is on another level right. This is going to be a fantastic game.

These teams played in the elite 8 in football and Cadets beat them 47-7. That’s got to be on the minds of the Dragons. Another side note is Fairland said they would play Fort in a non league football game next season but backed out.

In the first matchup Cadets struggled with free throws and defensive rebounding. Cadets rebounded amazing tonight.

Thomas was (2–15) from 3 in the first matchup for the Dragons no way you can expect that to happen again.

Nearly all of their key basketball players do not play football. I know Hunt does and maybe Williams.... the rest do not. They are true basketball kidsEasternDspy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:31 pmbbjunky81 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:25 pm I remember the regular season game and was shocked to see Fairland lose.

Here’s a link to the first matchup.
Kelton Fogle was a stud with 24
Aiden Porter had 19

For clarification - Hunt and Williams played football. That doesn’t mean anything when comparing the game. Just saying...

Some stats from last night for the Cadets
Nic Hart with 22 points,12 rebounds, 7 steals, and 4 assists
Kelton Fogle with 17 points 9 rebounds, 3 assist
Cadets were under sized at every position and out rebounded the Trojans 53-23
This is huge because Fairland killed Cadets on the boards the first matchup.

Congratulations to the Fairland Dragons on their district championship; they, like Gallia Academy, have done well for the OVC and themselves. I'm quite sure that FHS remembers what happened last year with the cancellation of the regionals, so they will have plenty of motivation from that standpoint and to add that the Cadets beat the Dragons earlier will sharpen their focus even more.
I personally have met and talked with Clayton Thomas on a number of occasions. He is absolutely is one of the finest young men, along with his brother Luke, that I have ever met in high school athletics. He will be very successful in whatever he chooses to do after high school. I am so glad, though, that my Trojans won't have watch anymore 3's by him. I remember a couple of games in which he scored 29 at Portsmouth, and had 27 in the sectional final this year, most of those points which came from behind the arc.

I watched the first matchup. This should be a good one. Fort Frye's two losses are to Warren - DII District Champions. There's still a lot of basketball being played on Route 339.

What makes you think they're holding Fort Frye under 60?
