Re: OSU football summer prep.
On passing alone, Miller is at the same level right now, that TP was coming into his junior year!
Miller is not as tall or as physically imposing, and he is about a step slower.
But, and it's a huge difference, Pryor was a long Dreiser that had trouble changing direction quickly and always ran to the sideline. Miller is nit as fast, but he is quicker at changing direction, and he runs north and south and tries to gain as much yardage as possible when he is forced to run!
No, he is not going to command the field at this point in his first year like TP would have, but he is not far from being able to put it together.

Yes he was, and im not knocking him, just pointing out the benefits Miller has.
It's going to be natural to compare the two, and TP did some things better than Miller, and Miller us already better than TP in some areas.
That outstanding record of TP has a ton to do with what the defense was doing too! Pryor had a great record, but he was not the driving force behind it!

Ohio State's problem is not football...it's selling what is already theirs and discounted tattoos. No more yardsales or 20% off tattoos! Things are going to be just fine (before you jump all over me, I'm not hinking BCS this year like every year in the past). It's The Ohio State Buckeyes football time...Can't wait!

Team goals have not changed, and therefore neither have mine!
Division Title
Conference Title
Unbeaten Season
BCS bid
Title Game Bid
National Title
That is the order they are listed, and while I don't expect a national title bid or win, I do expect everything else.

Yes I watched him and I read every practice report put out by Bill Greene. Besides Dubs I trust Bills opinion as much as anyone and he has said on more then one occasion that Miller is not on the same level, any, as TP. TP is 6'6, Miller is 6'1 maybe 6'2. TP is 250, Miller is 190ish-maybe 200. No where near ready to take a beating. He is nowhere near as explosive a runner. He is nowhere near as strong. He may have more zip on the ball, but his arm is nowhere near as strong as TPs. If you are going to try and sell me that a few weeks into camp and a spring underneath of him and he has a better grasp of the O then TP did year 3, then I will buy that ocean front property from you in good ol southern ohio.
He is the future, but I dont expect him to be all world like many delusional people on here. Denard played as a freshmen too remember. Miller is not Denard either.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
I think Miller brings more to the table in year 1 than Denard did, slower, but better!!!
Re: OSU football summer prep.
miller may get his chance but he has bauserman in his way as of now. i still dont think he is terelle pryor status.
Re: OSU football summer prep.
For someone who has yet to take a single snap I don't know how that case can be made. Anyways, I have seen Miller play several games and the talent level between he and TP is very evident.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
The case for miller year 1 over Denard year 1 can't be made?
Come on now, Denard was an instant run with no respectable throwing ability, and a gimic behind Tate his first year!
Heck, if he had went anywhere but UM, he would have been a DB his first year!

Re: OSU football summer prep.
Denard was a 4-star QB/Ath. I think what hurt Denard was coming in-in July and only having a few practices under his belt. If he would have had a spring like both Miller and Tate things would have been different imo. BTW he was being recruited as a WR not DB.
We shall see, but anyone who thinks they will see a TP like figure out there is imo delusional.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
TP was a freak in size and speed combo.
Miller is built more like Troy Smith (Pre-awards buffet!), but quicker. The biggest difference I see in Miller is his running style, TP was faster in a straight line, but Miller is more elusive and quicker in changing direction, plus he turns upfield instead of trying to find the sideline.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
Also, as was so often Pointed out last year, TP was a long strider. His deep ball was better because of it, but short passes and crossing routes suffered because of his lower body mechanics.
Miller doesn't have that problem. He doesn't have command of the playbook yet, but that will come with time.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
I agree about the difference in runners.
I am going to stop now, I get on others for doing this and I am not going to turn an OSU thread into a UM one.
GOod luck to whoever it is.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
I argue with my sons and their buddies constantly about TP.They say look what he does on third down and I say if he could throw a seven yard out,or crosssing route,it wouldn't be third and eight.WE would have a first down.Don't get me wrong he's a hell of a athlete, but QB,not so much.
Re: OSU football summer prep.
That is the point here. It is better to be a great athlete at QB then a great QB in college.
IF it were the other way around Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Payton Manning would have played for NC's instead of Mike Vick, Vince Young, Cam Newton, and Tim Tebow.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
Report out of camp today:
When they were doing 11-11 full contact drills in the redzone today, Miller was running #1.
The offense in the redone was NOT GOOD!
The defense blew up the first 2 plays, Verlin Reed caught a ball, but was OB, and the other drives resulted in 4th downs which would be fg attempts in game.
Miller and Bouserman have clearly separated themselves.
And Bouserman is leading in the 2 man race.
I've listened to multiple guys say that Bouserman is looking impressive, not just holding a position, but leading and playing much better than we've seen.
Miller is said to be able to do things that Pryor couldn't in his running game, and in avoiding trouble in a collapsing pocket. If you remember how Troy Smith would see a hole and turn his hips and be through the hole quickly and gain extra time in the pocket by being able to twist and turn his hips quickly to avoid a sack, this is what Miller is bringing to the table.
Instead of simply dodging and then being faster like TP, he is keeping passing plays alive longer and looking downfield to find the open man while doing so. Michigan took advantage of play like this with DR all last year, scrambling then finding the streaking WR in broken coverage.

Re: OSU football summer prep.
Jersey scrimmage was today, offense won.
Bouserman with 1s, Miller with 2s.
Bouserman seems more comfortable with the offense, but Miller is more dangerous.
The defensive line dominated Miller's O-Line squad, and he was throwing to the #2 set of WRs, yet he still ended up with nearly identical numbers passing as Joe.
Only one turnover all day, an INT by Travis Howard on a pass by Bouserman. He threw into coverage, and didn't reads a wide open receiver in the endzone.
Both QBs had 50+ yard TD throws, and Miller had a second TD toss of 25 yards.
Miller could have had a 3rd, but TY Williams flat dropped a well placed ball between 2 defenders!
Drew Basil handled fg attempts, and went 5/6, only missing one from 30 yards as he pushed it.
The O-Line is very thin, and will need likely 2 freshmen to continues early.
