D2 Tournament

Post by GeneralCarpenter »

If you had to seed the teams from the D2 SE district. How would you have them? A lot of good teams

Hard to Rank Teams in baseball because it's so hard to get accurate records for everyone. With a little over a week until tourny Bio's are submitted can we get a list of overall records going?

I Know Sheridan is 14-4 heading into this week.

Judging from scores i've seen through the year, I'd put Miami Trace, Jackson, Unioto, Waverly all near the top of the seedings.

D2 southeast district is notorious for having mid range seeds advance to the regionals. I dont think it matters much where teams are seeded to be honest.

Yep, like Warren is 12-7, but also a team that nobody particularly will want to play.

Sheridan is very good. They have some strong versatility in their infield combinations, nice range up the middle and their outfield is absolutely stout. They track the ball very well, are very fundamental and athletic in all three lanes.

Offensively? Sheridan has some dudes who can cover the whole plate and rip the ball. Bar-none the best hitting team I’ve seen so far this season.

Jackson may be better, but Sheridan is fo’ sho a top 5 seed in this district. The MVL is brutal this year, giving the Generals a lot of experience in tight games.

Southeast District looking brutal this year with Miami Trace, Sheridan, Unioto, and Waverly ranked in the top 10. Also, Jackson, who somehow is unranked, has to be one of the best teams in the district. Should be a fun postseason. Usually there are some upsets and I could see Unioto or Waverly falling in the Sectionals when DeBord or Eblin doesn’t pitch.

If coaches don't email Poll voters, they normally don't get votes in State Rankings, I'd guess that is the case in Jackson as I believe they only have 2 losses and are the only team to beat Trace.

1) Trace
2) Jackson
3-4-5 Sheridan/Unioto/Waverly all with 4 losses is a toss up.

Still some other good teams outside of those 5, I don't think there are more than 3 or 4 teams out of the 17 with a sub .500 record. Voting will be interesting.

Do any of these tourney games have covid restrictions that would keep anyone from showing up and being able to gain admittance?

Didn’t need a code for Waverly’s softball tournament game. I can’t imagine needing a code for baseball.

They aren’t necessary for the early rounds. Likely won’t be necessary at all for the postseason.

So you just can't walk up, show your vaccination document, pay cash, and get in?

No. You have to purchase tickets online ahead of time

https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets

Just click on Baseball, then find the district that the game is being played in and search. Pretty easy.
