I agree the Reds front office is clueless, but to get value you have to offer something of value which is Winker and Castellanos. Also on Castellanos, it is get something in exchange for him now as he can opt out of his contract at the end of the season.

Reds Shortstop Prospect Jose Garcia Changes Name

Jose Garcia changed his last name to Barrero on Saturday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The name change honors his mother, who passed away recently from a COVID-related illness. Barrero is currently away from his teammates at Double-A Chattanooga due to her death but started the season quite well, hitting .323 with four homers in 16 games.

Getting something rather than nothing makes sense. Yet aside from cutting payroll, the Reds would likely get the short end of the stick on trades. Cincy simply cannot identity and develop talent.

As of the end of competition on 06-05-21, Cincy is 27 -29 and 4 games back of the Brewers and Cubs who are tied for first place in the NL Central. The Reds have a winning percentage of .482 and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Cincinnati would resemble the Big Red Machine of old if they could play all their games against the Cardinals and Pirates.
