Re: Scrimmages
Seems like Ironton is making an effort to be more diverse. But the spread takes commitment to get good at it. It’s difficult to impossible to be proficient at the high school level trying to be good at tight formation running and spread
Re: Scrimmages
Waverly getting a lot of kids in on defense on that multiple play drive in which Ironton scored on 5 yard run.

Re: Scrimmages
Ironton was not happy after the 7 on 7. A lot of rumors going around that their coaches were gonna make this a lot more than a scrimmage
Re: Scrimmages
Be interesting if they'll really do the spread that much or if it's more of a scrimmage type of deal to practice something very new. Honestly we all know what their bread and butter is but to take that next step they probably need to be able to work the pass in more.SWHITE2002 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 7:53 pm Seems like Ironton is making an effort to be more diverse. Re: Scrimmages
Both JV squads ran 10 play series.
Waverly got to the Ironton 30 or so.
Waverly defense deflected IR pass in end zone from 5 yard line on last play.

But you don't play anymore either so you qualify in that category also. That & the "back in my day" one.Trimble Juvenile wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 11:43 amI know when I played it motivated me and my team. Sometimes a little motivation is all a team needs to get an edge. But it is fun to get on here and see people say it doesn't help. Especially people who don't play.smurray wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 2:48 pmNo doubteagles73Taylor wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 6:17 pm
Motivation from adults on a message board about a passing scrimmage, in a scrimmage! Settle down Francis!
Hint: nobody cares about yesteryear. Lol

Heard today that a top Ironton player has decided to step away from the team…tigerfan98 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 9:00 pm Ironton didn't play Carpenter starting qb or Trevor Carter
There's the BURG....then there's everyone else!

Re: Scrimmages
Clark from Burg shut down Futhey last year and will do it again this year!… so, there’s that!smurray wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 4:13 pm7 on 7’s are so important Waverly took part in only 1. Waverly people aren’t talking at all about that 7 on 7. It is good to work on routes, timing, coverages, etc, but that’s about it.Trimble Juvenile wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:07 pmCan't wait to hear how this one turns out. I would think Ironton wants to smack them in the mouth since everyone is saying Waverly did so well against them in the passing scrimmage. Isn't there a player for Waverly that Ironton "can't cover"?
And just FYI, not too many DB’s in the area were able to cover that WR last year and not many will this year.
Re: Scrimmages
Futhey had just 4 receptions against the Burg last year for 90 yards. Only 4 grabs might be shutting Futhey down, but he still did damage against the Pirates for 22.5 yards per catch.Seeyaat7 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 10:06 pmClark from Burg shut down Futhey last year and will do it again this year!… so, there’s that!smurray wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 4:13 pm7 on 7’s are so important Waverly took part in only 1. Re: Scrimmages
Waverly did beat the Burg last season 36-35 in overtime. The Tiger's first win in the series since 2006.

Re: Scrimmages
Ya, by 1 in OT … , only took’em 13 yesrs and Burg’s wins weren’t by 1 in OT, they were total ass whippins! My original point was that the Clark kid (#4) shut Waverly’s “best receiver” absolutely down last year.. and will again this year! ..nice try though!! Lol
