Week 4 Jackson @ Western Brown

Holy offense Batman vs a great defense.

I can’t say how great the offense of WB has been challenged but it seems they almost give you points so they can get back at scoring more. Lost to a pretty good Monroe team 66-58 and sounded like they could’ve scored 85 on Hillsboro. On the flip side Jackson’s defense is allowing 8 ppg….actually defense only allowing 3 ppg….but Ironton, Logan and Tri Valley aren’t big time offenses. So this is a legit offense vs defense powerhouse matchup…..but our offense with some major weapons so to me that gives the Ironmen the edge….. IF they don’t have a crazy number of holdings and illegal procedures…..and take care of the ball like it’s the difference between winning and losing.

Will be a crazy difference in styles for Jackson to face but I love this matchup. Defense was on point vs Tri Valley passing….WB will bring everything and that QB will likely make us look silly trying to get him at points throughout the game.

A great defensive effort plus a clean offensive game should yield a 10-14 point win. Turnovers and lack of discipline could make it interesting.

Better get off of the bus or it could be a big big early deficit that these athletes have had throughout their athletic lives. I’ll say we come ready and disciplined and win the first quarter and then finish them off late in the 3rd.

Major playoff implications on the line. Limited turnovers and Jackson can pull away in the 2nd half. Sloppy play may just result in them needing to score 50 to win. Disciplined Jackson Ironmen football can prevent the shootout and allow physicality to win out.

I haven’t seen a ton of western brown this year but from past games I’m gonna assume they have a ton of offense and maybe not so much defense. On the other hand the Ironman have a lot of defense and their offense looks to be improving every week. I’ll say Jackson 42-28. This is definitely not an easy game though we remember what happened the last time western brown came to Jackson

Just keep playing hard, stay focused and good things will happen. Make sure to enjoy these moments while they are right in front of you. The season is already almost halfway over! Man does it fly..
It may just seem like silly old high school sports but these will be some of the greatest memories of your life. I haven’t played in a long long time but man I miss the good times i had playing with my teammates. Some of my best friends in life

Great Qb who can move around and toss it all over. Offense runs a play about every 10 seconds so defense will have to be on top of it….we have some super smart defensive guys so we’ll see.

I do remember Western Brown beating Jackson a few years back. But for Jackson posters to be giving them so much respect now, years after. I guess I am just impressed with Western Browns program as a whole.

When they beat us about 4 years ago their elusive QB just made our pass rush guys look like 5th graders chasing a stud 8th grader. They got close 25x and he just kept making plays. We had some real solid players then but I think our defense is better now.

Our defensive backfield hasn’t been tested much….they will be Friday. We keep focused and keep em in front and I really kike our chances.

For what I know (and as a former golfer I’m pretty limited) Jackson should make the 83 mile trip back down Rt 32 with a W….but WB is 100% dangerous, very different and they expect to win as well. There will be bigger upsets for sure around southern Ohio.

Series History: Jackson leads 3-1

2016: Jackon 52 - Western Brown 27
2017: Jackson 49 - Western Brown 20
2018: Jackson 36 - Western Brown 42
2019: Jackson 56 - Western Brown 21
2020: Did not play - Schedule change due to Covid

In that 2018 game, I believe Western Brown jumped out to a huge lead. Something like 21-0 or 28-0. Jackson game storming back to take the lead and had a goal-to-go situation to go up by 8, but turned it over and WB drove down for the winning TD late in the 4thQ.

Jackson has been outstanding so far this season on defense, but this will be their toughest test yet. As good as Jackson is on that side of the ball, I think they're still going to give up points against such an explosive offense, so they better score plenty if they want to win this one.
