Our collective expectations for the 2012 Buckeyes are way to high. Average overall returning talent. New schemes and coaching philosophies. Unrealistic to rely on talented but inexperienced new recruits. That said, OSU will have a winning season with close exciting games. The glory days will return under Meyer, it is just not going to happen overnight.

I was at the game today, aside from the student section the crowd was pretty weak. The crowd came to life a few times in the 4th and cal seemed to come up with a silencer. The last 3 min of the game and especially the INT the crowd finally got into it. Playing teams each weak that you are a 20+ point favorite it's hard to get the crowds loud and juiced up as it if we're a big name opponent or night game. Not too mention 3 straight, 4 counting next week, noon kickoffs doesn't help the crowd any at all especially playing low rank opponents. Some 3:30 kickoffs make for the some better atmospheres

As far as the game, the defense was hit and miss. They made some great plays, got some good pressure and had some nice sacks. But they had some blown assignments and missed tons of tackles. The defense has alot of talent just gotta get their act together. John Simon played injured today with a bad shoulder and after the game gave a very heart felt speech to the team about giving his all to the team. Urban raved about Simon in the post game and said he's a grown ass man and he loves. Said if he had another kid he'd name him after John Simon lol.

The offense is still working its way there. Miller is a beast and the next 2.5 seasons are gonna be fun. Their finding play makers in brown, smith and stoneburner. Devin smith has tons of potential and makes huge plays but dropped a couple gimmes. The running game still needs work. Which Hyde was out and hall was rusty and 2 inexperienced guys. Once the offense really clicks and they really set into the high tempo fast pace they will be dangerous.

Talented group, but young and just lacking a few tweaks

Bleeding red, I agree completely about the old people takin up seats and not giving a rats ass if it snows oats or plays football lol. I understand they deserve to be there and especially alumni, but atleast cheer!! I set by some older people today that after the new quick cal drills (which I find awesome!) the old hag said well that's just stupid lol. People need to get into it, that stadium is unreal when the noise and passion is there. I love nothing more than the student section doing the buckeye bounce. If we get 105,000 to do the buckeye bounce like Wisconsin gets its WHOLE stadium to jump around, that would be the sh!t

The shoe can be the loudest stadium in the country when it wants. Ask Matt Barkley and Vince young

I know it can be. I have been to 3 UM games including 06, USC night game, Texas night game and alot of the big Wisky and Penn St games. It can get deafening!

The noon kickoffs do have alot to do with it too!

Before the season began, I recall some people saying if OSU went 9-3, it would be a good first year for Meyer playing with previous coach's personnel....or something like that. Typical of us (OSU fans), we now expect to go 12-0 and spoil everyone else's B1G party. If we struggle against an opponent we were "supposed to dominate", suddenly everyone is concerned. We need to be realistic about this team. Is it good? Yes. Top 25? Yes. Top 10? Hold on there partner.

It's a 10-2 team.
Said that early and often.

Can they go 12-0, maybe, but 10-2 is what they should be.
Anything else is not failure, but disappointing.

I had a prior commitment and didn't get to watch this one, but the defense has been nothing short of awful all year and if it wasn't for Miller's athleticism the offense wouldn't be much better. This is a one-man team, and at a school like OSU that shouldn't be the case.

As weak as the BIG looks this year its very possible they could go undeafeated, but like most years someone will probably jump up and beat them that shouldn't, like Purdue a couple years ago.

The receivers are actually playing pretty well. Each week the group is getting better and making plays. Granted theyre not all Americans by no means but overall they are improving well. Devin smith has made some wonderful plays and Corey brown is good go to guy along with stoneburner. Still a lot of improving to do but overall theyre not bad. Meyer is turning poor so so guys into play makers

Agree...I said 10-2 but after watching how bad the Big Ten is I think we would be playing in the rose bowl if we were eligible... And thats sad because were are avg. at best right now

You and I always tend to see eye to eye!

Before the season I thought possible losses were Wisky and Michigan State.

Wisky and Mich State have terrible offenses and mediocre defenses. They should now be wins. The B1G has looked really poor the first three weeks with no big wins for any school. Wisky, UM, Mich St and OSU were supposed to be the anchors of the conference this year. So far the only team who has really looked impressive is OSU and they have been inconsistent. To say that we now expect OSU to go 12-0 and spoil the party is not far off what the expectations are after seeing how weak the conference is this year.

Agree bleeding red. IMO the 2 toughest games will be Nebraska and Michigan. Nebraska has a pretty decent team and lost to what we see now as a pretty good ucla team. Michigan is Michigan so that's always a game of interest.

Michigan state, who I thought would be tough, IMO shouldn't pose a huge threat. Their defense isn't bad but osu offense can score against it. MSU offense is awful. Load the box, shut down leveon bell, pressure the qb and make the qb that's not a good passer beat ya with his arm.

Wisconsin. Lord I don't know what happened there. They look pretty sorry. I bet monter ball wishes he had went to the nfl while the getting was good. Don't see him putting up those numbers again
