Week 9: Marietta (3-5) @ Cambridge (5-3)
Marietta makes the trip up 77 to take on Cambridge. The Bobcats are coming off a dominant win over Warren. The Tigers are looking to bounce back from the beatdown they took from Dover. Does MHS have a shot to upset the ECOL cut-n-runners?

How long has Marietta's coach been there? How many winning seasons has he had?

Believe this is year 8 for Schob. I think their best seasons have been 5-5.chrishilton91 wrote: Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:19 pm How long has Marietta's coach been there? How many winning seasons has he had?

Yes, year 8. Has finished 5-5 three times, those are his best.beg003 wrote: Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:48 pmBelieve this is year 8 for Schob. I think their best seasons have been 5-5.chrishilton91 wrote: Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:19 pm How long has Marietta's coach been there? How many winning seasons has he had?

Coach Schob is a good Tiger. He bleeds MHS through and through
Re: Week 9: Marietta (3-5) @ Cambridge (5-3)
He is a great human being.
He needs to win games and put some fans in the stands. Marietta scheduled down this year and still won’t get to .500. Losing to Shenandoah? Love the Zeps but Marietta has no business getting beat by them.
Put FF’s or Waterford’s coach at Marietta and I think the program would be on a much better path. I’ve watched the same mistakes and excuses for years. Marietta is not a powerhouse but a .500 season should not be a measuring stick with our schedule.

As a Warren person and who has numerous close friends who went to Marietta and played there, it seems like the culture at Marietta regarding boys sports besides soccer is very apathetic. Could be wrong, but based on my own playing experience and friends’ stories, that’s my interpretation.

Was told by some inside that numbers are down and don’t have enough tough kids. Kinda of sad for program that was really good in the 70’s and 80’s. Maybe a couple other years. Hoping this gets turned around
. They’ll not be Cambridge
Re: Week 9: Marietta (3-5) @ Cambridge (5-3)
Well said. This may be the weakest schedule Marietta has ever played, yet here we are looking at another sub-.500 season.MttaFan wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 9:01 pm He is a great human being.

Apathy, at least from the administration, is certainly part of the issue. Our current administration has accepted mediocrity and seems content with letting the sub-.500 seasons rack up in both football and basketball. It's sad to me that we haven't had a winning season in football since 2002, and haven't been to the Convo in basketball in over ten years. There is no reason Marietta can't be at least competitive in either sport. It is absolutely going to take a change in culture in order for the situation to improve.beg003 wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 9:11 pm As a Warren person and who has numerous close friends who went to Marietta and played there, it seems like the culture at Marietta regarding boys sports besides soccer is very apathetic. Marietta, at least from the outside, does not seem as closely knit as Waterford, FF, or Warren. There seems to be little community support for the school in general. I don’t know if that’s because it’s a city school, but there is definitely something broken about it. To be the biggest school in the county and consistently underperform in both football and basketball should be enough to raise some eyebrows among the administration.pioneer19 wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2021 4:40 pmApathy, at least from the administration, is certainly part of the issue. Marietta hangs around for a while but Cambridge pulls away in the second half...
Re: Week 9: Marietta (3-5) @ Cambridge (5-3)
Marietta is like a lot of local schools. Few on the school board or administrators have kids playing in the system, so they care, but they really don’t care. Many wait on 1-2 classes to be good every 10 years and then you’re back to square one. It’s not easy but sad this goes on way too much at many of these schools. Good luck to all of you, but it’s become the norm

Cambridge has played some bad games this year but can't see how they lose this one...Bobcats big.
