South Gallia’s grass turf and stadium are very good for a school their size in Southeastern Ohio. The football team right now maybe down but did have 4 playoff appearances from 2005 to 2015. So there is hope of that happening again.

I was very surprised Green got the approval for it. They have struggled to get enough boys for a team a few times in the last couple years. I heard the other day they are running into financial issues with the turf going in up there.

I believe somehow the new turf and stadium was included in the new school funding, again not sure how that was done but basically sounds like the stadium piggy backed onto the new school.

No idea what their numbers are this year, but yes I believe it was 2-3 years ago they had to cancel games at the end of the season because of the lack of numbers and injuries caught up to them. They were below the 20 mark that year, believe they were around 17 kids or so.

I think they are in the 25-30 range which is pretty good for them

Fairland a few years ago had soil study for the field and facilities. I saw a soil report that the soil is so bad for the compaction needed they would have to dig down 4 feet for the whole field and replace with fill. You can imagine the cost for that plus drainage and turf.

Yeah thats why they would need over $1.3 million for the turf grass renovation. Thanks for sharing the biggest issue.unfortunately it seems highly unlikely to raise the kind of funds needed to do turf

The entire stadium was condemned when I was in school , and thats been some time ago. Like I said earlier , Fairland is having some questionable money issues which will hopefully be sorted out before it gets worse , if its not already .

There is no artificial turf fields in the MAC. Their to busy playing real football and counting state championships to worry about looking good.

Fairland has worst field around here and SV has best concession stand. Green plays football?
