Is the Portsmouth QB ok? Read that he was injured in the Ironton game. This would obviously affect my prediction on this game.

This will be a good ball game. Too early for prediction.
Portsmouth much improved and battled tested. Great opportunity for ZT to win a big game and represent the SVC in the playoffs.

If roe plays and he is ok then I think Trojans pull it out. I’m not sold on that conference. Zane trace almost beat Piketon but not too sold on Piketon. They did beat minford and have a stud qb. But walking into northwest last year I thought no way the Trojans lose this game and northwest flat smashed them in the mouth.

One of the weakest years ever in the SVC I think Portsmouth offense is dynamic enough to win it. ZT kept Piketon in check but I feel Portsmouth’s offense can have enough success to win

This will be Portsmouth's 13th postseason trip and 4th in a row which ties their school record from 99-02. However, they haven't won a playoff game since defeating Ironton on November 8th of 2002 and have an 8-12 all time in the postseason. Zane Trace is making their 9th trip to the postseason and is on a 2 year streak. Their all time playoff record is 2-8 and they are on a 3 game skid with their last win coming against Alexander on November 13th, 2015.

This should be an interesting game, i believe ZT record is a bit inflated because of SVC play. However what they do well is what has beaten the Trojans this year and that's ground and pound. I just don't think ZT has the athletes to keep up with Portsmouth. If they can keep it low scoring ZT will have a shot but I think Trojans take this one by a score. ZT will play ball control to shorten this one much like they tried to with piketon.

Zane Trace has only won two playoff games and they were in the same season. They defeated River Valley and Alexander in 2015, then got smashed by Wheelersburg. The Pioneers have never came close any other time.

This may be the first time ever Portsmouth and Zane Trace have played in Football.

Zane Trace does have a solid offensive line, three decent running backs and an athlete at QB. They can control the clock which is what they did against Piketon to limit possessions. Their top rusher did not play Friday though. Nobody has really shut down their offense all year.

This would be correct, although we did play Kingston in the early 1900's which I'm assuming would have been consolidated into Zane Trace?

Portsmouth lost to Waverly because of their passing attack not their run game. Although Waverly did indeed pound the ball, it was the big WR’s who did the damage to the Trojans. Ironton did run the ball at will, but when they let Wylie start throwing Portsmouth couldn’t stop the pass. Several big pass plays to Perkins. Trojans have problems stoping the run, but I think probably more so the pass. The difference is nobody other than Waverly and Ironton a bit have had much of a passing game. If ZT doesn’t have a deep threat then I think Portsmouth will stack the box and be able to stop the run.

LOL
Yes, Kingston went into Zane Trace.
No helmets then. Didn't know Kingston played football? May have been another Kingston.

Not that it matters because they will play ON the field Saturday. Stats don't mean much then.

I’ll take portsmout in this one I wouldnt use Roe unless absolutely needed this week and save him for the rematch at Ironton. I think Portsmouth won’t have much of a problem stopping ZAne traces run and win by a few scores I say 31-13 Trojans

You don't save anybody in the playoffs or you won't be playing next week.

If Portsmouth's offense is clicking it would be pretty hard to score enough points to beat then without throwing the ball. They haven't given up many rushing touchdowns this year and the ones they have were mainly garbage time or Ironton.

I haven't watched much on Portsmouth except for a little bit against Fairland through and watched 3 quarters of the Ironton and from what I've seen is you have to contain Roe. Ironton did a good job except for the opening possession on containing him, pushing him to the sidelines, and not losing their receivers once Roe rolled out. Portsmouth has to be able to score down in the redzone instead of depending on big plays. I think they beat Zane Trace but lose to Ironton.
