Week 11: #16 (5-5) Wellston @ #1 (9-1) Ironton

Ironton starts a freshman tonight as quarterback. He's very talented but he is a freshman. That'll make the game more interesting I believe.

Good stuff triple r!RiverRatRay wrote: Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:16 pmI looked at some facts and not just someone blowing smoke. Wellston won 5 games all against teams with losing records. Ironton on the other hand has 9 wins 7 against teams with winning records. Of the 10 games Ironton played they only gave up 2 tds on the ground and one of those was by the 2s and 3s late in the game. Physical sounds to me like a team that is physical on defense. They did give up 25 points to Moeller but only one other team on Moellers schedule held them to less and that was St X. Physical sounds pretty physical to me.fielddaddy wrote: Wed Oct 27, 2021 8:59 pmYou haven't seen Ironton play to believe that Ironton is huge and played a schedule many would not want to.GoldenEagles2015 wrote: Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:23 am
Wellston has a lot more size than Ironton does, it may be closer than what people think. Ironton not the team they were last year, not nearly as physical.
Can they be beat yes will they till State game remains to be seen.
I do believe they played it close in the first 4 games due to wanting to win in the playoffs.
And will play to their strengths and open it up now.
Ironton is deep big and talented maybe more so this year than last and hungrier do to the results of the last two years.
Ironton does not be the team of last year or of two years ago.
The need to be the team of this year and this team alone

They could start their tuba player at qb and I still like their chances lolkantucky wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 10:20 am Ironton starts a freshman tonight as quarterback. He's very talented but he is a freshman. That'll make the game more interesting I believe.

If we get a running clock in the second half, he's the back up ;>)Ironmen34 wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 12:07 pmThey could start their tuba player at qb and I still like their chances lolkantucky wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 10:20 am Ironton starts a freshman tonight as quarterback. Freshman throws a good ball and can get yards with his feet but it’s the experience I worry about I guess tonight’s a good place to start though

You know what helps a 1st varsity starting QB? A really good RB and a excellent defense. No problems this week or next, but after that Ironton will be in some dog fights where coaching including adjustments as well as offensive play calling will overcome who wins those games because that Tiger defense will keep them in any game.
