Turnovers were the biggest thing about this game couldn’t afford to turn over against a team that just wants to kill the clock and run
A Kicker of various balls. Trust The Process
Re: Round 2 Region 16 Waverly at Massie
Very good season not knowing coming in what they’d accomplish.
In order for Waverly to take the next step and start beating some of these heavy hitters they will need to decide if they want it and if they do they will need to put the work in to become bigger and stronger.
Massie totally dominated Waverly physically. That is not a knock on any person, it’s just a fact. Waverly has great athletes but Massie just manhandled them.
Looking for the stats to post. It won’t be pretty.
Re: Round 2 Region 16 Waverly at Massie
I think Massie has played the tougher schedule and beats Wyoming next Friday.

It was interesting listening to the Clinton Massie announcers. A couple things they said about Massie program is why they are as good as they are. They stated over and over that it is all built in the weight room. Stated that Massie football is a 12 month sport. They mentioned that the football coach encourages players to play other sports but that they still have to continue to get their weight room time in. I found this information very interesting.
I know its nothing earth shattering but the announcers kept bringing up the program is built thru the weight room.

They’re not wrong. The football programs who prioritize the weight room year-round will have continued success even when down years from an athletic standpoint come through.bsee12345 wrote: Sat Nov 06, 2021 4:19 am It was interesting listening to the Clinton Massie announcers. Doesn’t mean kids can’t play other sports, but they better get their butts in the weight room a couple of times/week regardless. You already see this at the traditional powers around here like Clinton Massie, but if other schools want to get on that level, a June 1 to October 31 schedule in weight room won’t cut it. It takes some extra effort from coaching staff as well who are willing to get to school early in morning or come back at night, but can be done at any school.*

Yeah, Kirtland is another school that attributes all of their success to the weight room and it certainly shows there as well. I think all schools lift weights, but it does seem like some take it to another level.
Re: Round 2 Region 16 Waverly at Massie
Great season by Waverly, Clinton Massie just to much up front the big fullback was getting way to much after contact and kept bringing up 2nd and 3rd and shorts which is their game. Like to know how may rushes Hurd had as it seemed like Waverly really didn't run the ball that much at all. Clinton Massie moves on to now take on Wyoming yet again, who I know nothing about but found it interesting the Massie announcers saying everything runs through Hester at RB, young man averages close to 30 touches a game. As seen on maxpreps--11games--305 attempts---2207 yards--33tds. Scary thing about Wyoming only 2 Seniors with minor contributions on the offensive side of things and only 9 seniors total if Maxpreps is correct.
The fumble going into the end zone was huge and who knows what might have happened, I don't think it would've changed the overall outcome but it could've kept it a closer game throughout. Massie was simply to much in the trenches for Waverly, I believe they said the FB rushed for over 170 and the Vanhoose #6 broke 200 yards and 5 tds. Waverly is going to lose a lot of fire power on the outside and a lot of leadership in the locker room, returning the entire OL and RB is huge as well as the front 7 on defense minus a couple guys. It'll be interesting to see how they'll matchup next year, have to hit the weight room and get back at it.

Having had some cousins play there and for their head coach that is 110% true. He use to be the wrestling coach too and a lot of football players back in the day would play only football and wrestling. Wrestling paid off pretty well too for a lot of the football guys.
Re: Round 2 Region 16 Waverly at Massie
Clinton Massie style of offense is old school football. Rich tradition. Waverly is on the that road to becoming a good year in year out program.
This year was a tough out for the tigers. Clinton Massie will probably end up in state title game.
