WJ is not as good as what the score showed tonight. The cadets will cruise into the final 4.
Fort Frye 42
West Jefferson 21

West Jefferson has 25 Srs and Fort Frye has 30-35 players total.

Considering the location of both teams, I would guess Zanesville or Newark.

This is the match-up most people predicted at the start of the season.
I watched a little of West Jeff tonight. Their ends look to be very athletic and the QB can throw a mile.

I don’t think they’ll let FF play again in Zanesville. I’d guess Logan.

Don’t think they’ll send Fort Frye to Sulsberger 2 weeks in a row. Maybe Tri-Valley.teach1coach2 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 10:59 pm Considering the location of both teams, I would guess Zanesville or Newark.

The Zanesville area makes sense. Maysville or New Lex? John Glenn?EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 11:29 pmDon’t think they’ll send Fort Frye to Sulsberger 2 weeks in a row. Just rewatched that game from last night and Fort Frye played so well. Now they play a spread passing team something they haven’t seen recently. Buescher Qb for WJ has over 10,000 yards passing for his career. West Jeff is going to see a big drop off next year but this one of the schools best ever. I’ve said since the regions were announced this would be the game.

EasternDspy - Not sure what you are referring to regarding “West Jeff is going to see a big drop off next year but this one of the schools best ever”. This years team at this point is far from one of WJ’s best ever. They were way better in 2019.
*If you are referring to the qb play next year, yes it will be difficult to replace a 4 year starter with close to 50 career starts, 11 of them in the playoffs with over 10,000 career passing yards and 100 career td’s. Regardless, WJ will be fine.
* If you are referring to WJ dropping off next year because of the 25 seniors who will graduate, I don’t know about that. The jv was solid this year, losing by a score to Hartley and by 35 pts to DI Marysville but they beat DI Delaware and Jonathan Alder. Plus, WJ has good numbers with about 18 kids per class out down to the junior high. The WJ sophomore class has more talent than this years senior class. Doesn’t matter, the expectations ever my year are always the same.
WJ is definitely the underdog this week vs Fort Frye. FF’s schedule and the results are impressive. A WJ mistake free game is needed and even then, it might not be enough.

You lose 25 Srs your going to drop off at least some. West Jefferson best players are Srs.

Fort Frye is 10-1 this year. Their wins are against teams with a combined 68-42 record. Their only loss was against 11-2 Lima Central Catholic. St. Henry and LCC are playing for Regional Championships this upcoming weekend as well. Fort Frye is averaging 36.73 points per game while giving up an average of 11.91 points per game.
West Jefferson is 12-1 this year. Their wins are against teams with a combined 62-66 record. Their only loss was against 12-1 Mechanicsburg. They’re averaging 39.75 points per game while giving up an average of 11.76 points per game.
Fort Frye needs to have sustained drives and make this a possessional game early on. Test their defense and run timely play action. I don’t think that they’ll need to force turnovers but they’ll need to force West Jefferson into making bad decisions and overcome adversity.

Cadets will use Owen Brown and Eli as OLB but they really will be playing more like slot cbs in this one. CrazyLegs , downtown Owen brown , Braxton Brown and Eli Johnson should matchup well vs the spread they just ain’t seen it much.
